Hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood were joined by Eric Stonestreet at the 45th Annual CMA Awards.
Wednesday night’s “45th Annual CMA Awards” packed plenty of treats for country music fans, but for the night’s opening performance, hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood went Hollywood.
After Paisley and Underwood shared some buzz-about stage time with Hank Williams Jr., “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet joined the pair on stage to make sure they sang a tribute to the topic that’s been weighing on everyone’s minds — “the divorce of Kim Kardashian and what’s-his-name.”
To the tune of Randy Travis’ hit, “Forever and Ever, Amen,” Stonestreet joined in for an ode to the short-lived Kardashian union, with bonus swipes at Justin Bieber and the night’s big winner, Taylor Swift.
“I’m going to love you forever — for 72 days, amen,” the trio began. “As long as Justin Bieber is not a conceiver, as long as Taylor Swift is with her current boyfriend.”

The show opening was really funny. The Hank Williams Jr. part was well done, and then the Barbie doll humor was spot on. The whole Kardashian thing is the stuff comics live for. Stupidity at its best. The Kardashians live for media attention, and they are getting it. Too bad it's not the sympathy they were hoping for - turns out no one believes this isn't some kind of publicity stunt. Part of me is upset that the Kardashians get any press at all, but I think this last little stunt is tarnishing their star appeal.
Right on. Well done spoof. If you didn't like it, sorry. Heheheee
I liked the CMA but Taylor Swift as entertainer of the year. There many that sing better than Taylor and they are not a professional.
Must confess I am not a country music fan, although some of the old time favorites and a few of the new pop/alt/country songs do kind of make me tap my feet. As I channel-surfed last night, however, I did catch bits and pieces of the opening act and I have to admit: the jokes were REALLY funny! I liked the whole bit with the dolls and Hank Jr. I missed all the rest of the show, but the part I did see actually was pretty good. Well done, without all the excesses and uncomfortable, squirm in your seat, mean type of humor that seems to be the norm now days. They took digs at people but in a funny, compassionate way and not way over the top trying to crush someone. And the hosts seemed to get along and work together very well. Good job.
How many times has Lorrie Morgan been married?!?!?!!?
Long live Hank!!! Plus, country music fans are the best. We love the old ones, the new ones, and about everything in between. As Loretta moves along, its good to see real talent like Carrie Underwood slide into place. The ladies are lovely and the men are men! Country gals are smart!
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are magic together. One compliments the other. Bring them back for many years to come.
Loved the opening bits! Humor without being malicious. The whole evening was wonderful. Celebrating new and old stars. No wonder Lionel Richie and Darius Rucker want to be apart of it. I agree on Taylor but when fans are voting - she has a fan base that votes and she had more people at her concerts then probably all the rest combined last year. She is a touring machine. Her concert had a lot of entertainment packed into it.
I loved the show but was not fond of Carrie's wardrobe picks. I believe she needed someone else to help with her choices. The Glen Campbell tribute was very moving. I really still dig Lionel Richie's songs.
The show was ok, I love the new artists but what happened to all the real country stars. eg.George Strait, Hank Williams Jr., Alabama etc "THERE HAS BEEN MURDER ON MUSIC ROW". BRING BACK THE REAL COUNTRY MUSIC THAT REAL COUTRY MUSIC LOVERS WANT TO HEAR NOT THIS CROSSOVER MUSIC THAT IS ONLY AN IMITATION.
