Occupy 'Twilight' Street! Fans rough it ahead of premiere

The fan camp at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday.

For several weeks, we've all seen images from lower Manhattan and across the country of protesters taking up camp in Occupy Wall Street protests. Now, braving the chill of the Los Angeles night, fans of the "Twilight Saga" are camping out ahead of the "Breaking Dawn Part 1" premiere. The film opens this week.

There's no tear gas or pepper spray or threat of arrest (yet). No apparent marching or drum circles. But we'll bet there are some strained wrists from coloring "I love you Robert!" signs with markers. Perhaps Team Edward and Team Jacob members have had words. Wouldn't it be scary to sleep on the street surrounded by teen girls (and their moms) who worship vampires?

Much like Occupy Wall Street, we're sure Occupy 'Twilight' Street will spread to cities and towns across America in the coming days as theater marquees light up with show times for the film. So be patient in your multiplex parking lot. The girl in the Taylor Lautner T-shirt could be your neighbor, and after Thursday she'll be off the sidewalk and back beneath the posters in her bedroom.

Forget that 99 percent stuff. These fan signs have serious messages.

Team Jacob, no doubt. Werewolves come at night, young lady.

Isn't it too late? A fan in a wedding dress, perhaps hoping to catch Edward's eye.
