NBA star Kris Humphries and his mom Debra visited "Good Morning America" on Friday.
Kim Kardashian's blink-and-you'd-miss-him husband, Kris Humphries, took part in his first post-split interview on "Good Morning America" Friday morning, and now he's said to be "livid" about all of the Kardashian questioning he endured.
Just what the basketball player and reality TV star expected to talk about when he (and his mother!) showed up for what turned out to be one awkward interview isn't clear. But given the fact that, no matter what the question was, almost all of his answers took a b-ball turn, it seems his famous ex wasn't what he planned to discuss.
When directly asked about the split with Kardashian, he said, "I'm not focused on (it). Right now I'm really focused on basketball, you know? Other things will take care of themselves. It's a great day for the NBA and the fans. For most people, camp starts today."
And following several more Kardashion-related inquiries, the NBA-heavy responses, accompanied by odd, blank stares, continued. That's because, according to TMZ, Humphries had a lot of anger to hide during the chat. Allegedly, he later told pals that he felt "ambushed."
The website reports that Humphries only agreed to the segment in order to promote his charity work and his mom's cooking segment, not to talk about all things Kardashian.
A rep for ABC told TMZ that there were "no ground rules" for the interview.
What do you think about Humphries' "GMA" interview? Should he have known what to expect when he showed up, or was he "ambushed" with the Kardashian questions. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Is this stupid bastard on an NBA team?
the "stupid bastard" here is the interviewer and GMA. He had made it clear prior to agreeing to the interview, and GMA was made aware he couldn't talk about the marriage or Kim per the terms of the confidentiality clause in the prenup. They may think they made the Humphreies look like jerks, but the real jerks are those that invited them for one thing then tried to embarrass them with something else. It's wasn't just an ambush--it was yellow journalism looking for sensationalism for higher ratings. They are not journalists anymore than the ragwriters!
Thank you, drushalli! 100% in agreement. GMA has gone down hill so much that many may not have seen it anyway :)
You guys are right. The media no longer reports, they make it up as they go. It's all about yellow journalism now.
This is the reason the Kardashians are famous, not because of what they do, but because they are always made the center of attention.
I honestly believe this poor bastard was blindsided and got roped into marrying a psychotic bitch who now has her life revolving around the ability to achieve ratings. The Kardashians are milking this reality fad for all it's worth and all the suckers that are watching and keeping the ratings up are to blame.
Used to be a time when we watched TV and movies to get away from reality. Now we have the 99% watching the 1% in total fascination. Fans that truly believe these wenches would give them the time of day. They care about one thing and one thing only, how much money did we make off these suckers this week.
A great celebrity reality show would be to have the cameras on these clowns when they don't know the cameras are there. Then everyone can see what they really think about their so called "fans". That I would watch.
Have to agree with drushalli on this one. It was reported on this very site that he couldn't talk about Kim in the upcoming GMA interview due to the pre-nup he signed. GMA knew better but still tried to get him to violate it. I actually feel for the guy. Even if he becomes the best player in the NBA he will still be overshadowed by his marrige to Kardashian. He should have kept quiet and "leaked" things about Kim through his friends as has been done to him by her friends. There have been many stories on MSN about "friends of Kim" or " a source close to the Kardashians" trashing on him since the split but have not seen similar stories about Kim from his camp.
He can't talk about Kim, meanwhile the Kar-trash-ians are dragging him through the mud talking about what a horrible person he suddenly turned out to be - crude, mean, arrogant, he even called darling Kim "fat"! He doesn't seem like the sharpest tack in the box, but I think he got taken for a ride by America's favorite attention-whores.
Who cares about the KarTRASHians !!
Let's get some NBA action going here !!
.
Good for Kris Humphries.. he really kept his cool, Mom too. How unfortunate the interviewer tried to keep redirecting back to the K family
If I was told that the interview was going to be about one thing and it turned out to be something completely different, I'd be pretty pissed too. However, having said that, this guy has had enough media exposure for long enough that it was pretty stupid of him NOT to expect questions like this.
The media is the worst entity in the world. They build you to tear you down. This guys is jerk. He just kept pushing it and pushing it.... Look at how they go after presidential candidates...
I just LOVE when people say "The media this, the media that..." Get a CLUE--the media reflect US, you know, PEOPLE. We're the CONSUMERS of what they sell, and they want to sell A LOT so they can raise advertising revenue, GET IT? So they give us EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT. (Sorry for the caps, but can never be sure clueless people will understand stuff).
BTW, this is the CELEBRITY MEDIA, which YOU, GENIUS, just happen to be reading. So YOU'RE a consumer!
BTW II, the POLITICAL MEDIA is different (although with FUX NEWS the line has definitely been blurred). A functioning media is CRITICAL to a DEMOCRACY where power is derived from the PEOPLE. Without the media "going after presidential candidates" we're one step away from being Russia.
Unbelievable, Clint!
Could this guy be more naive? Why would he think that anyone would care about anything that he has to say other than his marriage? Sorry Kris... the only reason you would be on GMA at all is because of your shame marriage.
And really folks, blaming the media for doing their job? That's entertainment media, and his marriage is the only thing that makes him relevant. Do you really think any show would ask someone on their show, and not talk about the reason they're in the news?
I think he's a young guy who seems pretty much still tied to mamma's apron. Maybe this experience was something he needed to learn from. I might have walked off the interview leaving the network to fill in with inanity, which they are so good at.
Hey.. Kris knew exactly what to expect..he isnt as stupid as he wants us all to think he is. No one would even know who he was if he hadnt hooked up with the Kardashians and he knows it. Please people...he knew what was coming in this interview and hes trying to play stupid. He has gotten press he wouldnt have gotten otherwise and his name is more familiar now then ever before so he hasnt made out too badly. I aint buyin" his "Poor me" game. Hes just pissed he didnt squeeze more out of the Kardashians then he wanted to. Looks like Kim wasnt as stupid as he though she was. She knew when she was being used. I dont give her credit for being the smartest girl in the world but she was certainly able to smell a rat... This guy began to abuse her and she left right away instead of sticking around and taking his crap so she cant be that stupid. He got paid for being on the show so whats the gripe?
Elaine, I totally agree. I still believe the marriage was a sham, but I really think he was in on it. I think he was supposed to play his role, but wouldn't quietly walk away when the sham was supposed to be up. That's because of the support he received in the beginning and the backlash that the Kardashians received. He was a no name who was supposed to walk off into the sunset with the cash he made . However, he wants a little extra!!!
NNRRESQ: perhaps the most relevant comment of all is the point you make. We are the consumer and if we stop buying, "the media" will have to find something else to temp us to become buyers once again.
What did he really think he was going to be interviewed about? I'm guessing this interview aired in the later, "tabloid" hours of GMA, so unless he thought he was going to be on ESPN I'm not sure how he thought he wasn't going to be asked about the "Kar-Krashians". It's not like he's some huge NBA star nor would I wager many GMA viewers were all that concerned about the NBA camps opening up today.
The questioning was so out of line. This is why I watch the Today show. What a jerk of an interviewer. Chris politely tried to by pass all the *stupid*, inappropriate questions with saying he's focused on bball and moving forward. What a stupid interview! Sorry there are insensitive, stupid interviewers, Chris. David Hartman, Joan Lundon, Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer would not have kept "pegging" Chris as they would have been more professional. Isn't a foundation helping kids more important than a personal issue - even though played out in the public eye? Seriously? and btw, I haven't a clue what that interviewer's name is, don't care to know it and I doubt he'll ever become a John Stossel, Debra Roberts, Matt Lauer type anyway. Definitely not, if he keeps asking about issues that should be left to People magazine instead. (and I love People magazine but there is a time and a place...)
NBC Today is no better. They all are nothing more now than a propaganda machine, the news outlets try to "make" stories, they don't report. Make it up as they go.
Skiddy, you are probably right. Last time I watched the Today show, the lead in story by Ann (whom I love btw, but...) was the breakup of Demi and Ashton...really? That was the lead story when we have troops overseas and have kids missing daily, etc? Give that airtime to helping others with a human interest news bit or highlight something that makes sense - Ashton and Demi as a lead in, really? Pretty disgusting.
Don't forget the sidewalk interviews in front of Charlie Sheen's house. We have made pop culture a priority in this country. Movies, television, music and sports are more important now than safety, education, keeping family together, our kids fighting wars for reasons they don't even understand, politics, etc.....
If you want to site a great example, check up on Herman Cain......how much attention did he get from "all" media outlets before the sex harassment and affair scandals broke and how much attention he got afterward. Who he is having sex with is infinitely more important than his political views.
Scandals get ratings, news gets snooze. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in this country revolves around how much money can be made. News doesn't make money. Walter Cronkite was totally disgusted by the direction of the news. The rule of journalism, if you claim it is news it MUST be based on fact, everything else is just opinion and there are too many opinion pieces they try to disguise as news.
Agreed. They're not news shows--they're nothing but gossip shows and those morning shows are all alike. Ever notice how they claim to have a 'live' or 'exclusive'interview with the latest victim(s) of some tragedy, but if you flip channels the people are on the other networks at the exact same time? Never mind that those 'interviews' add nothing to the story. You know, the same 'how do you feel?' stupid questions. How do you THINK they feel when they've lost a family member through some gruesome murder or whatever? I refuse to watch those interviews.
Why on earth would anyone invite this person on a television show to talk about basketball? It's not like he is famous for his playing. I had never even heard about him until the "wedding" happened. And he brought his mother??? What's up with that!
It says in the article that he was there to promote his mother's cooking segment. Since the segment was about HER cooking, that's why she was there.
The what value does he add. His only claim to fame is the Kim fiasco. Frankly I'd rather not hear anything about either of them (Kris and Kim, not Mom) ever again. The biggest waste of bandwidth, TV, Magazine, Web and probably Radio, we've seen in several decades. Paris provides more value to the world than this crew.
Oops, lost an N. Here it is "n".
Why would you want to talk about the fat ass gold digger he was married to or the other one having kids out
of wedlock. That is the most fu*kup family and why are they on TV??
Because there are enough dummies out there that watch them. I know that's hard to believe, but evideently true.
It takes a lot for me to feel pity toward that meathead Humphries, but congratulations to the interviewer, you succeeded. Wow.
The interviewer should be grateful that there are laws in civilized society, because without them, his badgering would have gotten him a beating.
I do watch GMA & am terribly disappointed by this interview. Who cares about the Kartrashians anyway? That said, young Mr. Humphries should have established ground rules before agreeing to the interview.
Really?
Yep. Really!
" A rep for ABC told TMZ, "There were no Ground rules" for the interview" They couldn't have said that if he had established ground rules before hand.
Had enough of the Kardashians? You're not alone. Sign the 'No More Kardashian' petition at Boycottkim ((dotcom)). Over 200,000 signatures so far!
I feel bad for the guy. Do I think he's the greatest? No. I actually think he's kind of a d-bag. But i feel bad, it's obvious by his "this guy" comment when asked if he still loved Kim that Kris had agreed to an entire different line of questioning. His mother was there because she was doing a cooking segment. I think he did great talking about being excited to play this NBA season and working on his charity. And for those who don't know. he was talking about NBA camps opening because they've been in a lockout for the past few months and just finally came to an agreement. So it was smart of him to try and turn every question towards that and how he's trying to move on. Give the guy a break. He's a nice guy from MN just trying to live a normal life. And please don't say anything bad, mean or stupid about him being from MN. I myself am a Minnesota native and think it's ridiculous the way people bash this state and that includes Kim Kardashian's snarky comments about how horrible it is. This state is beautiful and the people are some of the kindest out there.
Kim bashes your state because it is to far away from her rainbow and sunshine bubble she lives in. It is a little bigger than her ass but doesn't quite extend to MN.
She bashes the state because she's ignorant.
I also think part of the reason why she bashes it so much and has such a negative attitude towards it is because Kris is from MN. She doesn't care what light she comes off in as long as she's getting the attention. I'm annoyed by everyone in that family talking about how caring and loving she is. I don't buy it one bit. There are multiple clips within their show that make her look like a five year old whining brat because she doesn't get her way or something that wasn't supposed to happen has happened. She needs a reality check and I'm not talking about the paycheck she receives for that so called "reality show" she's on.
Kris Humphries--obviously trying to maintain a class act against all odds
What the hell. he need's to buck up and be a man. really did he think that GMA had any interest in him. WRONG it was all about his stupid ex wife... Never mind she wasnt even really a wife.. We all know he married her for money and fame, now he has to pay the piper.Anyone who would get involved with that CRAZY family deserves what they get....... Now just get on with your life.. You all know another reason for this SHAM of a marrage is he can now say he layed a kardashian, like who hasent...... SLOPPY SECONDS ANYONE....
But let's be serious, why would he be interviewed by anyone anywhere if it wasn't going to be about the Kardashian's. Does he really believe he is such a hot commodity that a GMA would want to speak to him about anything else? Is he that soft? GMA doesn't care if he has a prenup. Let him violate right there on their set for all they care. 99% of America doesn't know who he is anyway and he thinks they want to talk about mom's cooking? Please. There are no victims here. At least that idiot Ron Artest, who actually thought he was on the Today Show to promote some half assed rap group finally took a step back and admitted to giving himself a reality check
Who is this incredible jerk? Kris Humphries showed real class with all of his answers. The interviewer is a real a-hole. Jeez, the guy just keeps coming back with more and more. Good for you, Kris, and good for you mom. You are the real gentleman here, and your mom is a peach.
I think that the minute they saw he was resisting questions related to Kim, they should have automatically back-tracked, laid off and asked him about what he really wants to talk about, which is his NBA career, his mom's cooking, and his charity work. Why keep pressing him? Changing the subject means he doesn't want to talk about it.
Backing off would have shown him some respect which is no longer an option on television.
If he didnt want to deal with any questions about KK,he should have stayed home. His mom is sharing a recipe that will be featured on a website called Taste of Home.It might really be a good recipe, but we all why ToH is "featuring" it.To take advantage of situation going on in KH's life so they can get more hits and advertising bucks from the website.KH had no business being on GMA and he and his mom knows it.This "outrage" might even be faked to get more people interested about the website. I just dont see how a grown man who deals with the media and media organizations like he has since he has been in college,NBA and then his marriage could not have foreseen this. He HAD to know this was coming.I dont blame GMA one bit.LOL,if you cant take the heat.......
You are the perfect example of why these shows keep their ratings up. Believing this is okay proves how well pop culture has brainwashed society.
Apparently GMA had them all fooled because people like KH do have publicists and agents. He didn't book this show on his own. Get a clue.
Hey i didnt say it was okay.I am saying he should take responsibility for his actions and know what he is getting himself into.If he "allowed" his agent to persuade him to go on a show for a segment that he had nothing to do with, then he is a weak minded fool.Maybe you are the one who should get a clue about personal responsibility for ones own actions.
No one wanted to interview you before the famous wedding. What did you think they were going ask you about??? Really Kris?? Why come on the show?? Why bring Mom?? What's with the dumb look on your face? Repressed anger?? Is this what the ex-wife saw?? Maybe she had reasons for exiting to the left!!! Just saying!!!!
What did he think they were going to talk about? NBA fans don't give a turd about Kris Humphries, why would anyone else?
I think he wanted to talk about his foundation and his mom was there for her cooking. Wouldn't a foundation talk have been waaaay more appropriate anyway - shame on GMA, again!
Exactly, nothing like showing your true colors by blowing off a charity for ratings and attention. I'm shocked that this point hasn't been brought up. GMA put Kim Kardashian before a charity. Kind of redefines "how low can you go".
Dont go on talk shows so soon after your separation(i am tired of KK myself) and expect to talk about your foundation. If your foundation is worthy and well managed(cough Wyclef Jean cough),then it will be around a year from now for you to promote.I am sure the NBA would help him promote it. But if you know something that you consider negative is going to happen and you decide to go down the path anyway, then you have to be a man and deal with what you know is going to happen or dont do it at all.
What you saw was outstanding media training!! Kudos to Kris and his publicist!! When you stay focused on the message you came to deliver, that's what the media and viewers get - your message: basketball season is about to start and I've been working to end childhood obesity.
Kris, way stay focused and use the platform you're given to promote your message.
Wow. Poor Kris. He is really ignorant. WHY IN THE WORLD did he think they wanted to interview him? Did any network want to interview him BEFORE Kim? And he brought his Mommy? I'm tired of the whole kit-n-caboodle, but he's not making a stellar impression of himself, by far!
LOL! Kris really is as dumb as SNL portrayed him to be in their Khardashian wedding skit. GMA is always interviewing mid level, no-name pro athletes (and their mom)! I'm sure GMS is guilty too. No doubt they dangled the "mom" carrot out in friend of Kris and got him to believe they were really interested in her cooking segment and Kris bought it. But, honestly what do you expect from a guy that married a Khardashian in the first place? I think it's pretty clear what he thinks with and it isn't his brain.
He must be a republican - getting asked extremely relevant questions and pretending he shouldn't be asked those questions. Seriously, Kris, no one who isn't an NBA fan knew who you were before you got involved in this circus. You helped put yourself in this spotlight - tough it out, whiner. Then again, you are a professional basketball player. Being a sissy comes naturally.
