Taylor Lautner 'out and proud' People cover a fake

Twitter

Nice try!

An obviously faked People magazine cover on which Taylor Lautner supposedly announced that he's "out and proud" ricocheted across the internet Monday, tricking fans and even celebs like Russell Simmons.

The Photoshopped image of the purported Jan. 7, 2012 People issue shows the "Twilight" star announcing he's gay and "tired of the rumors."

The fake cover goes on to fake-quote Lautner as saying his decision to come out has left him feeling "more liberated, and happier than I've ever been."

While the internet was abuzz, celebs like Def Jam's Simmons even fell prey to the hoax, tweeting Taylor a congratulatory tweet: "proud of Taylor Lautner for his bravery and his courage."

Once realizing the mistake, Simmons tweeted: "disappointed that people would joke about someone coming out about their sexuality. Let Taylor Lautner be whoever he wants to be...."

I hope that those that voted for the messiah Bush will be a little more reflective this time around. We don't need another right wing, conservative nut job for president to ruin the economy and get us into more wars.

Taylor Lautner, I hope you sue the idiots who made the fake magazine. Sexual orientation is a private matter and government and everyone else should keep their big fat noses out of it.

Can someone please tell me where I can get a copy of this "gay agenda"? I asked at my local library and they don't have it. None of my gay friends can find copies either. Is it only available to heterosexuals? Is there some secret location that I have to go to to get one? Can I borrow your copy Timothy1Mil?

It's in the Book of Secrets on Page 48. It's in the next National Treasure movie, National Treasure 3 The Search for Intelligent Life. Apparently Timothy1Mil won't get a part in the movie.

Racism, bigotry and discrimination will always exist because of stupid statements like his and any other statement that has to point out nationality, color of skin, sexual orientation etc.... whether positive or negative.

The truly funny part about the People cover, it doesn't affect our lives in any way shape or form. Organizations that claim to be about the news and consider this to be news need to get focused on news. All they are focused on now is making money and stories like this get the clicks.

Pop culture has managed to program everyone and this mind numbing, stupifying, dumbing down drivel is what feeds this current cultures appetite. Your life is reality and TV & movies are fantasy, let's keep it that way.

Even more offensive is the Minnestoa gay community's downright cruel letter to Sen. Amy Koch. http://www.mediaite.com/online/minnesota-gay-community-apologizes-to-sen-amy-koch-for-the-ruination-of-her-marriage/

It just goes to show you how immature and rude some people can be. If the Miin. gay community falsely blamed for exposing Koch's scandal, they should have sued Koch for libel, not write an immature, sarcastic, and downright offensive letter about her.

Still, the fact that some gays will do anything - literally anything - including lying about stars who say they're non-gay (Taylor Lautner) and "destroy" someone's life and reputation permanently - is a serious blow to their own community. Indeed, anyone who does this is despicable and should be slapped in the face (I'm looking at you, John Medeiros).

There are some gay people out there (yes, I've met them) who are downright scathing if you don't agree with their views. Or, the "if you're not with us, then you're against us" philosophy. For example, I, personally, am against anal sex due to possible medical complications and potentially serious results and voiced it, and my reasons, on a chat room discussion about it. A lesbian shredded me up for it verbally, with no remorse, who seemed to enjoy ripping me up...simply because some gay guys practice it.

On the other hand, there are some gays who are simply awesome people, totally sweet and kind, etc. I have gay friends like this and they're wonderful individuals.

However, the "bad apples" need to be dealt with, and they ruin the image of the gay community.

Claiming that someone is gay ruins that person's reputation? I think that we've moved past the point where it is considered slanderous to say that someone is gay.

Gay agenda, black agenda, white agenda, union agenda, corporate agenda, left agenda, right agenda. Everyone has an agenda. Usually more than one.

The problem is, it's an agenda. Trying to convince someone of something. And in this case, you have to ask yourself, 'Is it right for someone to make something up to push an agenda?' Especially when you're dragging some unwilling person into it.

And if you dont know the answer, its NO.

But, if you're agenda is righteous and undeniable, well, any evil and any horror can be well excused in the promotion of how right you must absolutly and undeniably be. After all, my agenda is so important that truth, respect and common decency have no place. The only thing that matters is, I'm right and your wrong. And if it takes a lie or a murder or slander, hey, its all for a good cause. And I can be excused because I have 'right' on my side.

Heres a clue kiddies, right and wrong come with many different shades. In fact, there probably isnt right and wrong. Only actions and consequences.

If Marus Arellious was correct in saying that 'Someday, you will be nobody and nowhere', then there isnt a basis for morality. And that is scary to think about. But who knows. Maybe that is the truth.

When the lioness brings down a gazelle to feed her cubs, seems that its right for the lioness but wrong for the gazelle.

I have to say, I'm not convinced this is a fake. Whoever made it would have to be a professional in art design.

The People logo is perfectly placed behind a meticulously cropped head of Lautner, the color matching is exact on the blurbs (when you find a high quality version), the typeface is an exact match, and I have yet to find that photo anywhere else, which would mean it could have only been obtained by someone with access to Lautner or his PR people, lending credibility to the cover.

                I don't really care if he's gay.

My bet -- they leaked the cover to test the waters and see if his primary demos would be supportive, or upset...when they saw the feedback they claimed it was a fake. People has a bearing interest in doing what his reps say because, if he does come out, I'm sure they were given exclusive coverage on it, whenever he decides to do so.

It's either that, or someone who's very good at multimedia design decided to waste several hours on something stupid.

Art professionals can't fake magazine covers? A good Photoshop user can do amazing things.

I have to say, I'm not convinced this is a fake. Whoever made it would have to be a professional in art design.

If you look at a higher def version of the cover, you can see that his hair was very meticulously cropped...even decent photoshoppers aren't all that good at that, as that level of detail usually requires the use of a pen input device (there isn't a mouse in existence that's that good).

I believe you also misread my statement.

Another thing to keep in mind, the typeface is unique and the Pantone colors are exact to People's standards (I know because I have worked with them on an ad for my employer, and I still have a copy of their brand guidelines). Try as you might, you'd probably take a month if not longer to get a PMS color match to People's blurbs without specialty PMS matching equipment.

Aside from the very obvious lack of an explanation of how someone managed to get an unreleased photo of Taylor, it is possible that a very skilled person would do this. I would seriously question why they would waste their time like that, but it's possible...for a small percentage of the population. I just don't see the possibility given that this photo is not only an unreleased photo, but obviously shot for cover art, given the amount of touch-ups done on it.

I should add, I am completely against outing celebs who wish to remain closeted. I do however take issue with celebs who intentionally put the question out by being seen somewhere or, as is possible with this cover, use their PR people and entertainment magazines to plant the story then act as if it came out of nowhere. This kind of "halfway out the closet" thing perpetuates the idea that it's okay to hide who you are for the sake of keeping your friends, etc. and hurts a lot of teens who heed that advice.

So what if it was someone at People messing around with photoshop and cropping and all that and they decided to make a fake cover? They'd have all the right colors and probably a few unreleased photos of Lautner hanging around the office-someone decided it would be "fun" to release a fake cover and I hope they're getting their asses handed to them for doing so. If Lautner does in fact in the future come out of the closet, you can have your "I told you so" moment-but for now, why not consider the possibility that it might be an inside job that someone decided to make a joke out of? You really need to get off your soapbox touting the excellence of professional artists and how only they can do something that looks so perfect-how did they become professional in the world of digital art media? They kept practicing with stuff like this-only in the entertainment media someone used it to create buzz and business for their company. Let me guess-you're a "professional" digital artist, right?

Some people care - some don't. Is it "news"? Maybe, but I would think there would have been more to it than was reported here.

If he's gay, most gay guys that care wouldn't stand a chance with him.

if he's straight, most straight women that care wouldn't stand a chance with him.

Gay, gay, gay. When Ellen, Rosie, Lance Bass, Ricky Martin, etc..came out, was anyone shocked? Nope. We all said "Well, duh". Same with Taylor. He's so gay, he practically floats.

It's time for Taylor Lautner (and Justin Bieber) to just admit the truth already.

Maybe if people didn't take these celebrity magazines so seriously, this wouldn't be an issue. There is such a thing as "real life" that doesn't pertain to celebrities. Who cares if he is gay or not? Don't believe everything you read - especially in trashy magazines.

                                                Lets make this simple.

Obviously there was an agenda. There always is. And the only people that know that agenda where the people that did this.

Was it a gay agenda? Could be.

Was it a personal agenda against the actor? Could be.

Was it an agenda against People Magazine? Could be.

Was it an agenda to get some laughts? Could be.

I dunno. Could be any of those or a multitude of others.

To say it was a gay agenda is just as wrong as saying it wasnt a gay agenda.

Only the shadow knows for sure!
