Chaz Bono, the season 13 "Dancing With the Stars" contestant and transgender son of Sonny and Cher, may have told People recently that if he never has "bottom surgery [the procedure by which a penis is created], I'm fine. I feel 100 percent male as I am," but he really does want to have a penis.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bono said that he's been saving up for the procedure, and has a doctor in Belgrade in mind to do the surgery. He's been considering his various options, too.
"I could get a phalloplasty, which builds the phallus from a donor site on your body," the 42-year-old told the magazine, "but I'm leaning more toward a metoidioplasty. It's a procedure that uses what you already have down there, which has grown larger from the testosterone. You end up with a smaller phallus than with the phalloplasty, but it's fully functional, it gets erect, and the sensation is all there."
Bono explained to Rolling Stone that because he wants a fully functioning penis as well as testicular implants, he's guessing the price tag could be somewhere between $25,000 and $45,000.
He first underwent a sex change in 2009, and the following year, a judge granted his request to legally change his gender from female to male and his name from Chastity to Chaz.
