Ramble on! Jimmy Page turns 68

Jimmy Page in London last May.

It's the birthday of Jimmy Page today. The legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist is 68 years old.

It would be impossible to capture in one short shout-out all that Page has influenced in rock 'n' roll. He's on numerous lists of the greatest guitarists of all time. He's a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with both the The Yardbirds and Zeppelin. He's synonymous with the sound of the '70s.

We've strung together just a few videos here to mark the occasion and recognize a true great.

"Ramble On" and "Going to California" make this favorites list. You have others, no doubt. And if you've missed the excellent documentary "It Might Get Loud," featuring Page, U2's The Edge and Jack White of White Stripes fame, do yourself a favor and let this serve as a reminder to check it out.

Happy Birthday Pagey! He is the main reason why I picked up the guitar. He is more than likely the main reason hundreds of thousands wanted to play guitar. He's an incredible player, writer, producer and Guitar God! The man is an icon.

Had the pleasure of working audio and lighting on many occasions for shows with jimmy...

In person he is a real good dude and grounded... Many I have met in rock and roll were not...

Way to go Jimmy! You did it your way, and it was .....and still is, the RIGHT way.

Too bad I don't have a turn table. Can't break out the old vinyl. Somebody ought to start making them again.

As an African-American Rock n' Roller to my heart, let me say Happy Birthday to the best guitarists of all time. How many times have I zoned out listening to Led Zeppelin while my contemporaries were listening to Disco and Funk ALL THE TIME. There was a place for that but not ALL THE TIME.

Sitting back with a beer and a bong, there was nothing like the majestic melodies of Jimmy Page.

    Good times! Good Times!

My top 4 guitarists of all time are Jimi Hendrix-Jimmy Page-Stevie Ray Vaughan-Carlos Santana. My list could go on and on, but if I had to chisel a Mt Rushmore of guitar gods with only 4 faces....it would be those gentlemen listed above.

Happy Birthday Jimmy.....and please, please, please release the 2007 O2 show on DVD. Your fans would love to see it.

Couldn't agree more. And nothing perturbs me more than to see RS mag won't give the nod to SRV as a top-ten. They deserve no respect for that reason alone!

You can't leave out David Gilmour. That rift on Comfortably Numb is one of the best.

Happy Birthday Jimmy! In my opinion, the greatest guitarist of all time. I had the pleasure seeing Jimmy, Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton play at a benefit. For an encore the three played Layla, dueling back & forth. I gotta tell you Jimmy blew them away to the point that Beck & Clapton bowed to Jimmy...such great memories, dozens of Zep concerts in LA during the 70's. Thanks Jimmy, happy birthday and many more to come.

P.S. How about a tour to celebrate?!

It was Led Zeppelins Music, and Mr.Pages Guitar playing, that made me want to learn to play Guitar myself. A love affair that's been going strong for 25+ years now. Not many Led Zeppelin tracks I cant play now, and they are always at the top of my favorites list. :)

      Happy Birthday Mr.Page.
