Morgan, 43, was being honored at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards. He reportedly fell unconscious after giving his acceptance speech and leaving the building.
Entertainment news website TMZ quoted unidentified sources as saying the actor "appeared extremely intoxicated during his award acceptance speech".
However, TMZ later posted a statement from Morgan's publicist, Lewis Kay, which said: "Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100 percent false. From a combination of exhaustion and altitude, Tracy is seeking medical attention."
Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996. In 2010, he had a kidney transplant.
NBC News and msnbc.com staff contributed to this report.

One of the side effects of Diabetes being "out of whack" is appearing drunk. Society is so quick to assume the worse! Ignorance is bliss! Get well Tracy! Signed a fellow diabetic.
I can't say I am familiar with the man or his career. I am also not well trained on helping people with diabetes. But I will tell you this: If someone suffers from diabetes and is having a diabetes-related issue, I have had experience with that, and it can very much appear as if the person is intoxicated when they are not. People need to not judge until they know all the details. Diabetes can be very deadly if a victim is suffering the effects of diabetes.
Being on all the meds you have to take to avoid rejection, drinking any alcohol makes it worst. He should not drink at all. Very sad. He is a funny guy.
He is totally funny, my prayers are with you Tracy, get well soon.
Most good comedy shows are a salad mix of quirky characters and Tracy is an element ( Xenon , krypton , uranium ... pick one) of that show. Get well " Cause a Brother gots to get paid".
You can take the kid from the Ghetto......
Morgan is the walking definition of "equal opportunity" he has no talent!
You see how one @!$%#ed up quote by TMZ can send this man's reputation running out of control? Libel...I'm glad his publicist was on it!
Any chance of giving him the benefit of the doubt, considering he's diabetic? That can really mess you up (light-headedness, slurring of speech) WITHOUT the benefit of alcohol or drugs. Add the high altitude into the equation, too. Understand the disease before you criticize.
Tracy Morgan...the "poster child" of alcohol, drug and chemical dependence...what a surprise to see the "not-so-young" lad making his "hospital tour" ...his spokesperson says that the altitude was the source of the problem...similarly to what Stevie Tyler had happen to him with "stomach flu", effecting his ability to avoid crashing his from teeth into a bathroom fixture...
Have any of you ever experienced a diabetic coma onset or seen someone who has? Much of the time they will appear to be intoxicated. Think of Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias. I was having dinner with our high school principal when he began to act completely bizarre. When he began smearing mashed potatoes on his arms fortunately for him a nurse sitting at the table next to ours recognized the symptoms and ordered the waiter to bring orange juice from the kitchen. It took about 15 minutes to bring him out of the coma onset. I think we should cut Tracy some slack.
That cheap ass won't even help his mother pay off her little mortgage so she won't face foreclosure. Hope his fat ass gets diabetes and kicks the bucket.
