Warrant issued for rapper Bow Wow's arrest

It's a ruff life for Bow Wow.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest, but a rep for the 24-year-old rapper tells E! News that this "ongoing dispute" is under control.

So just why is the hip hop star in trouble with the law in the first place?

He's in contempt of court. Back in 2009, the rapper was ordered by a Tennessee court to pay fees to a tour bus company after allegedly not paying his bill. Then on October 20, 2011, a judge in Georgia ordered him to produce documents for the other side. (The tour bus company transferred the suit from Tennessee to Georgia, where Bow Wow lives.)

He's failed to produce the documents, and as a result, the tour bus company filed a motion to have him held in contempt; the judge has since granted the motion and ordered Bow Wow to be taken into custody. (He was also ordered to pay for the other side's legal fees, but it's unclear whether he adhered to this request)

Bow Wow cryptically tweeted a picture of himself in a jail cell on Monday with the caption, "Been here before.... Haha"

"All I know is im on a world tour and I gotta sold out show in Paris France tomar," he wrote. "All they doing is making my album gain momentum."

The rapper's rep told us he "recently hired a new legal team to resolve this and another pending legal matter" and that "his attorneys are handling the affairs through the proper channel and plan to have everything resolved soon."

I find it to be a positive and uplifting story. Think about it. He gets to go to jail, which will increase his "street cred", which will sell more CDs, and nobody was murdered! We have to take what we can get in this post-Reagan world.

When he was a kid he was cute. But then being raised in an environment where folks like Snoop Dogg and Kanye West are the male role models, it's no wonder he turned into an arrogant fool who thinks he doesn't have to pay his bills.

This kid has enough cash -- why doesn't he just pay the company? Is the time in jail really that good for his sales? It's jail time over an unpaid bill, not for being gangsta. What kind of rap can you make out of being caged for cheating Greyhound?

NO but not paying your bill makes you a punk. Not following a judges order and being proud to be sent to jail is a thug.

It says "Prince of the OTown" but the way the OT blend together, it makes it look like "Prince of the Moron" in that pic.

How could anyone named "Lil Bow Wow" ever be taken seriously???? Not to mention who would pay to see a lowlife get up and talk dirt and think it's talent???

@rixter - I agree with you completely - however, you have to take into account the mentality of today's under-30 crowd. In the era of no responsibility, they all think being thug or gansta is soooo cool that they want to emulate idiots like this wanna-be. All they see is the pub it gets him, no matter how unethical or plain wrong the decisions may be. After all, we have a president who lies out his a$$ and corruption in every level from the top on down, including actors and CEOs and the list goes on - so the thinking is just to "get me mines" and that's all that is important. Wait, tomorrow and the future might have some relevance?? Yeah, he's "been there before" and just as all the other pieces of crap that walk the streets of this deteriorating country, he's proud of it. It won't be long before it will be a prerequisite for a job application to have "street cred". Can't change your stripes when you are what you are... just look at M.I.A for an example. Of course, when THEIR kids grow up to do even worse, they'll be the ones screaming to the authorities...

Your generalization of an "under-30 crowd" is really obnoxious. Many of us are hard working individuals who love our country. Not that I think the President had anything to do with this article, but a lot of us also agree that this country needs new leadership.

I work 2 full-time jobs and own a small business. I'm 21 years old, I voted McCain and I've endorsed Romney. If you're a gleaming spectacle of what our country used to be - grow up and act like it. Your condescending ways aren't helping anyone.

If you really want to make a positive contribution, then do so in a positive way. However, if you were aiming toward name-calling in reference to young black people, then bullseye!

Probably - most who've commented won't see this comment since this article is a few days old. But, if you should happen to look back ...

Judging by many of the comments, most have probably never even listened to a Bow Wow album. I'm an older person, and I have several of his albums. Bow Wow is not a "thug." That's comical, even. His album themes are mainly kid stuff. His music is clean; kid stuff.

I notice some of you have bought into the stereotype of equating the term, "rapper," with "thug." That isn't necessarily the case. Some rappers are thugs in real life; but, not all rappers are thugs. Some are simply musicians; that is their profession. Rap is a music form not the lifestyle of the ones performing the music. Their work in the studio is merely a job.

Bow Wow's mother toured with him for the longest, had curfews for him and treated him like a kid, not a star, certainly not a thug. For the most part, Bow Wow is doing alright, producing his own music, handling his own career. That is why he's on tour - working - not hanging out on corners doing nothing. He has a legitimate job. I would think the "do-gooders" would, at least, acknowledge that.

The article said that his legal team is handling this situation. Why can't you leave it at that? After all, it is him and not you.

Typical Democratic behaviour. I'm sure he will get an invite to the white house to raise money for BO this year.
