Rocker Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, was arrested after a suspected drug overdose early Wednesday morning in upstate New York and was charged with multiple drug-related violations, local police told NBC News.

According to a press release issued by the Town of Kirkland police department, police responded to a call at 1:51 a.m., reporting that a female at a Hamilton College dormitory had allegedly overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive.

That female, according to an investigator at the police department, was Bongiovi; she was transported to a local hospital.

Heroin was recovered at the scene, and one male, Ian S. Grant, 21, was arrested. Later, the Oneida County Drug Task Force searched the dorm and found heroin, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

Bongiovi was then arrested and charged with “criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia -- all class A misdemeanors and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation,” according to the press release. She was released on appearance tickets and will appear in town court in Kirkland at a later date.

Hamilton College issued the following statement: "On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, members of the Kirkland Police Department arrested two Hamilton College students and charged them with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters."

A rep for Bon Jovi had no comment.

Bon Jovi and wife his Dorothea Hurley have four children; Stephanie is the oldest.
