  • 'Project Runway' winner Michelle discusses Daniel feud

    Lifetime

Michelle Lesniak Franklin, the winner of "Project Runway."

Michelle Lesniak Franklin got her last kill on "Project Runway." The "lone wolf" was crowned the winner of the team-themed 11th season, besting fellow finalists Stanley Hudson and Patricia Michaels with a nearly flawless collection inspired by her experience struggling to survive on the competition.

"It was the strangest experience ever," the scrappy Portland-based designer told TODAY.com. "It really is a Petri dish, and you learn so much about yourself over the course of time."

Stanley, unfortunately, didn't learn from his "time management issues" and barely managed to dress his models minutes before the show. "He's so incredibly talented," said Michelle. "It kind of fell apart for him at the end."

While Stanley and Patricia were frantic in the workroom, Michelle had time to relax and enjoy her completed collection.

"I just really like to be prepared and always put my best foot forward," she said. "Not that the other designers didn't take this seriously, but perhaps I took the weight of the seriousness heavier than they did. I was just really smart about it. It's 'Project Runway' -- they can throw three more challenges (at contestants) in one day, so I wanted to be prepared for that."

She was also prepared to hear criticism from the judges for her graphic bleeding heart sweater, which Tim Gunn loathed and begged her to remove from her collection. Instead, the judges all loved it -- so did she make the mentor eat crow?

"When we were watching the runway backstage on the television, and it walked down the runway, he was like, 'I totally take back what I said,'" she recounted. "He's like, 'It's stunning!'"

She also got sweet revenge after the judges bashed her design for the Miranda Lambert challenge.

"The one judge comment you dread to hear is 'I question their taste,' -- and they 'questioned my taste' (when critiquing) my leather vest and this leather fringe necklace," Michelle shared, adding: "H&M just made that necklace! So yeah, that was funny to me."

Michelle herself brought plenty of funny to the show, from her spot-on Nina Garcia impressions to her candid remarks about her fellow contestants.

"Sometimes it came across as mean," she said with some regret. "I know at one point I said that Tu couldn’t sew for s---. Well, that dress he did was terrible, but Tu is actually an incredible sewer. And an incredible technician. I ended up apologizing for that."

"I think a few people had hurt feelings, and for the most part I was really straightforward with them," she continued. "I'd tell them before (the 'confessional' interviews) even aired:  'Hey guys this is what I said. And this is what I meant by it.'"

Not everyone has been forgiving, though -- especially Daniel.

"When someone takes a ball from you in kindergarten, you go to first grade (and) you need to let go of it," she said, referring to the emotional mustachioed designer's overreaction to her comment about his pink jacket. "You need to not hold a grudge and get over it."

Michelle promised more fireworks when the gang reunites in next week's reunion special.

"There are some adults, designers on this show, who haven't quite figured out how to grow up," she said.

  • Amanda Bynes shaves half of her head

Amanda Bynes' bizarre behavior (don't call it erratic!) has been tabloid fodder for years now, and the former child star has been fanning the flames on her personal Twitter account.

Her hair has been the subject of many rants, including an early April gripe that a salon damaged her locks so badly that she had to shave her head.

She proved she did just that on Thursday, showing off her buzzed scalp in a series of selfies.

"I buzzed half my head like (pop star Cassie)!" she tweeted, along with a grinning emoticon.

The 27-year-old starlet didn't go full Britney -- can anyone forget Spears' 2007 meltdown in a Tarzana hair salon? Blond, wavy locks still cascade from the crown of Bynes' head.

"This is the new me!" Bynes added. "I love it!"

  • Kaley Cuoco reveals 'Big Bang Theory' set mishap: 'I had blood gushing down my face!'

Does anyone have more fun on set than "The Big Bang Theory" cast and crew? Last fall, the gang delighted a live audience and its writing staff with an impromptu "Call Me Maybe" flash mob that went viral, and other behind-the-scenes stunts always make for a wildly entertaining gag reel each season.

But sometimes, as star Kaley Cuoco said Wednesday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," their pranks can go terribly awry.

After finishing a scene for this season's Valentine's Day episode, in which Leonard and Penny get in a fight, the actress explained that she and her mischievous partner, Johnny Galecki, decided to provide some extra footage for the gag reel.

"We decided to do a (surprise) prank where Johnny punches me," the blond beauty revealed. At first, everything seemed to go "perfectly": "I go flying off the chair, the chair comes after me…the writers are laughing, Chuck Lorre's laughing, everyone's cracking up."

But under the table, Cuoco wondered whether she took a genuine hit.

"I kinda feel like something's throbbing," she said, but was most concerned about whether Galecki's roundhouse "looked real." She got her answer when she stood up and was covered in blood.

"Everyone thought I was under the table painting blood on my face, (but)  I had cracked my head open," Cuoco shared. "I had blood squirting down my face. I didn't even know!"

She took it in stride; her "sensitive" castmates not so much. "We don't have a very macho group of people … Johnny's in tears, Simon's vomiting in the corner, the blood is gushing down my face. I was amazed at how much was on my face … I thought it was the most awesome thing in the world."

Not so awesome? The six stitches and black eye on her face, which coincided with the SAG awards. "So I decided to have the brilliant idea to wear (fake) bangs … because it covered my black eye and I was really insecure."

She felt even worse when critics slammed her "helmet-style hair." "It was honestly the worst-reviewed hair in history," she said, quoting some of the reviews. "These bangs … almost ruined my entire career!"

But with Kimmel's help, Cuoco was finally able to "say goodbye forever" to the hairpiece: They attached the fake fringe to a bunch of helium balloons and sent it skyward from the studio.

  • 'Survivor: Caramoan' star Malcolm: Reuniting with Phillip was worse than being voted out

    CBS

    Malcolm Freberg on "Survivor."

Don't lie: Your heart sank when Malcolm Freberg was voted out Wednesday night on "Survivor: Caramoan -- Fans vs. Favorites."

Athletic, easygoing (and easy on the eyes), friendly but fiercely intelligent, it's no wonder Malcolm was invited back as a Favorite before viewers and his fellow competitors had even seen him dominate "Survivor: Philippines."

After repeatedly using immunity idols to wreak havoc at tribal council, his inability to locate the last one sent him packing. Still, on his way out, he said he was so sure of his alliance that he wouldn't have played the idol anyway.

"I don't know what the hell I was talking about," he clarified to TODAY.com. "I want to completely distance myself from that comment. I saw that (on the broadcast) and I was in shock. If I had had it, it would've been a very different situation. That (idol) was getting played."

Malcolm didn't just give up on his search just because Andrea discovered him, either. "I dug under all these trees for hours and hours, and when Andrea came down I was already about to give up," he admitted. "My hands were bloody and blistered, so I was like, that's it. I'm over it. I'll just fake like I have it."

When asked which was worse -- being voted out or reuniting with Phillip Sheppard in the post-elimination Ponderosa camp -- Malcolm didn't miss a beat.

"Reuniting with Phillip. Hands down. No hesitation. I didn't realize it at first. It took me a second, to piece it together: 'So I just used all my immunity idols to get rid of a guy because I couldn't stand him, and then I have to go see him three days later, and spend the rest of the time with him?' ('Survivor') is a cruel, cruel mistress."

Phillip wasn't the only one who marred what was mostly "a very young, fun vibe." Malcolm noted that Brandon Hantz was "very unstable" long before his ignominious exit.

"He'd have mood swings and his lows were so low… At the end he was ready to go home and it felt like a quit to me, a trashy reality TV throwaway."

He also had to endure another tribemate's emotional roller-coaster. "Dawn cried so, so much, like manic highs and lows," he said, adding that even her "dead whale scream" when she lost her dental prosthesis didn't elicit a reaction. Erik goes, 'Oh, that's just Dawn crying,' (and we said), 'Oh. You stir the rice recently?' We didn't even react to it anymore."

    Monty Brinton/CBS

Another woman's tears touched his heart, though: His mom, when she found out his merged tribe, Enil Edam, was named after her. ("Madeline" spelled backwards.)

"She lives in Dallas, so I went out there for that episode. She threw a big party, (and) when it happened the entire room goes, 'Oooooh,' and she started crying. It was sweet. She was touched. I hadn't told anybody else. Nobody on the show even knew."

Speaking of "new beginnings" (Malcolm's hilariously convincing translation of "enil edam"), how many times would the 25-year-old be willing to play "Survivor" before winning a million? (Hey, it took even Boston Rob four tries.)

He rephrased the question, laughing: "How many times would I have to lose to finally just call it a lost cause? It would take a lot -- a lot of trying. (Both times) I was out there to win that stinking game. If they ever ask it's really going to be hard to say no."

  • Steve Martin opens up to David Letterman about baby daughter

    CBS

Steve Martin starred in "Parenthood" and the "Father of the Bride" films, but he didn't become a daddy until the age of 67.

And the comedian is taking his new role very seriously.

Appearing on "The Late Show With David Letterman" Tuesday night, Martin plunked a baby monitor on the talk-show host's desk, saying, "I'm a responsible (dad)."

The men listened in as the remote device picked up sham sounds from his "baby back at the hotel" -- including a car alarm, a barking dog, coughing, and the baby playing the banjo.

Like father, like daughter: Martin just showed off his banjo skills on TODAY on Monday, promoting his new musical collaboration with New Bohemians singer-songwriter Edie Brickell.

When Letterman asked about his experience as a parent, Martin praised his wife of nearly six years, Anne Stringfield.

"It's going great because I have a wonderful wife and mother," he enthused, which drew chuckles from the host and his audience.

"I'm paying her a compliment," he insisted. "Everything is funny when I try to be serious!"

The notoriously private musician, author, producer and movie star deftly deflected Letterman's question about his daughter's name, teasing that they've considered a very unique choice: Conquistador.

"We've thought about the name quite a bit. Conquistador. What do you think? I didn't want to go with one of those Hollywood ... weird names," he deadpanned.

    "Conquistador is a statement."

At least he didn't name her Navin!

  • Victor Ortiz knocked out of 'Dancing With the Stars'

The fight is finally over for Victor Ortiz on "Dancing With the Stars." After floundering for weeks at the bottom of the scoreboard, the welterweight champion and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, were KO'd Tuesday night.

    ABC

The bad news did nothing to tarnish the boxer's gleaming grin.

"I'm happy to get this far," he told hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet, admitting with a rueful laugh: "I definitely need some dance moves!"

So do Andy Dick and Sean Lowe, both of whom were in jeopardy of going home. But once again, the comeback comedian was declared safe, leaving "The Bachelor" star to await his fate in the bottom two.

Spared for another week, will Sean follow judge Len Goodman's advice and "set (his) sights higher" than just trying to beat Andy?

And do any of the guys stand a chance of beating Zendaya, Kellie Pickler or Aly Raisman? The trio of dancing queens were of course declared safe again, followed by Ingo Rademacher and Jacoby Jones.

Both men reteamed with Zendaya and Victor for another performance of their group paso doble routine to Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground." (The fans, who voted for the encore, obviously appreciated the guys' toned torsos more than the judges, who gave the win Monday night to Team Samba.)

Also appearing on the results show were Olly Murs, who sang "Troublemaker," and Will.i.am, performing his new single "#thatPower."

Leading man honors, however, go to Ingo's adorable son Peanut. The 4-year-old was caught on camera after Monday night's show yelling, "See you at the after-party" like a seasoned Hollywood star.

  • 'Real Housewives' star Porsha Stewart on Kordell's divorce shocker: I found out on Twitter!

Porsha Stewart was "totally blindsided" by her husband's secret divorce filing, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star told Andy Cohen after the reality show's reunion aired.

"When I found out about the divorce, it was absolutely a surprise," she said on Sunday night's "Watch What Happens Live," explaining that she took to Twitter after her sister called to ask whether she'd "heard the news."

"The first thing I see (on Twitter) is 'Kordell divorcing Porsha,'" she revealed. "I thought this is some kind of crazy joke."

Considering her husband hadn't even moved out, her disbelief is understandable.

Even more shocking: The former couple still lives together.  And while their mansion measures approximately 12,000 square feet, Porsha calls their cohabitation a "difficult, difficult situation."

"We're in the same house, but I didn't say we speak," she clarified, adding, "And I didn't say I'm cooking, and it ain't no eggs and bacon and ham hocks no mo'!"

  • 'True Blood' and 'Twilight' stars' sexy showdown on 'Watch What Happens Live'

    Bravo

Joe Manganiello and Peter Facinelli on "Watch What Happens Live!"

Hope Andy Cohen had a fire extinguisher handy when Joe Manganiello and Peter Facinelli heated up the clubhouse on "Watch What Happens Live" Thursday night!

The smoldering stars of "True Blood" and the "Twilight" film franchise battled each other in several contests, including a sexy face-off. Maganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide on "True Blood," easily took the win with his seductive stare. Facinelli, meanwhile, was chided by Cohen for his terrible Justin Bieber impression.

Then the actors' brute strength was tested in the "Can They Rip It?" game, in which both men tore panties with their teeth, and Manganiello decapitated an adorable teddy bear. (Like peaceable vampire Carlisle Cullen, Facinelli chose to cuddle the stuffed animal instead.)

Both heartthrobs offered candid answers to fan questions, including whether they favored boxers or briefs. Facinelli surprised Cohen by admitting that he goes commando, quipping, "I like to air dry." Manganiello, on the other hand, revealed that he usually wears boxer briefs -- except while filming "True Blood."

"Werewolves are commando," he said, explaining that underwear would complicate the shift from human to beast. "It's method!"

"True Blood" returns June 16, and you can catch Facinelli on "Nurse Jackie," airing now on Showtime.

  • D.L. Hughley eliminated from 'Dancing With the Stars'

    Adam Taylor / ABC

Comedian D.L. Hughley and pro partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated Tuesday.

More Maks! More Val! More … Andy Dick?!

Tuesday's "Dancing With the Stars" results show devoted extra airtime to hunky brothers Chmerkovskiy and declared surprising fan favorite Andy safe, so nearly everyone was a winner.

Except, of course, for D.L. Hughley. The comedian and his partner, Cheryl Burke, were sent home after placing in the bottom alongside boxer Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold.

(Soap star Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson, the first pair declared in jeopardy, were spared.)

After a rocky relationship with the judges -- especially the harshly critical Len Goodman -- D.L. was rewarded with a standing ovation from all three fault finders.

Even Tom Bergeron praised the comedian: "I know this has been a bit of a roller coaster, but I applaud how well you've handled the criticism, my friend," he said. "Really."

Hughley left with a good-natured crack at his "verbal assaulter": "Len, you need to watch your hip action," he teased about the elder statement's show package. "The hip replacement Bruno said I should have, I'm willing to you."

Fortunately, we saw much more of Val and Maks' hip action than from Len or D.L. Tuesday night.

First, Len granted the wish of Jacoby Jones -- and viewers who wanted more Maks -- by asking the NFL star and Karina Smirnoff for an encore of their jive. (Anna Trebunskaya partnered with Maks, but he also gave his former fiancée another kiss after the dance.)

Another bonus? Val heating up the dance floor with Oksana Dmytrenko after a commercial break!

The cherry on top of this delicious Chmerkovskiy sundae came from some practice footage, which could sub as a preview for the Ukrainian brothers' reality show. (Make it happen, TV gods!)

"When something's wrong with him, I get b------ at like it's my fault," Maks grumbled, and said Val escapes their mother's wrath only because "I don't let anything go wrong with me."

"Bro, you're one big wrong already," retorted Val. "My whole life!"

(More hilarity ensued when they each threatened to tattle to "mama" and "papa." Adorbs.)

The other performances of the night included Tristan MacManus and Witney Carson dancing to The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two," Tyne Stecklein and Jeremy Hudson twirling around Kerli as she sang "Love Me or Leave Me," and Selena Gomez getting sweaty while she appeared to lip-synch her new tune "Come and Get It."

Next week, Stevie Wonder will be in the house! Tom revealed that the dancers will perform two group routines, with Team Paso taking on Wonder's "Higher Ground" and Team Samba performing to "Superstition."

Asked about his preference, Andy delivered a wisecrack that left even Tom speechless.

"I want to be on your team, Kellie," he told his co-star, "just so we can call it Team Pickler Dick!"

"For the first time in 16 seasons," said the Emmy-winning host, "I got nothing."

  • 'Dexter' season eight sneak peek: Deb turns on her brother

    Robert Sebree / Showtime

Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan and Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan in "Dexter."

When "Dexter's" eighth season premieres June 30, Deb and her brother clearly have mixed feelings about Capt. Maria LaGuerta's demise.

"A better person would feel bad about LaGuerta's death, but the truth is it solved all my problems," voices the serial killer, played by Michael C. hall, in a new Showtime promo for both "Dexter" and "Ray Donovan," the new drama starring Liev Schreiber.

But Miami Metro Homicide's volatile lieutenant, Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter), bitterly regrets firing on her captain in the season seven finale. In fact, she wishes she'd pulled the trigger on her adopted brother instead.

"I shot the wrong person in that trailer," Deb tells Dexter in the video segment, aptly captioned "Bad Blood."

"All my life I thought I needed you," she sobs. "It was the other way around."

Actually, both Morgans must rely on each other's silence to stay out of jail -- or worse.

  • 'Veronica Mars' movie raises $5.7 million: Slick casting and fast filming expected

The "Veronica Mars" movie project concluded its wildly successful Kickstarter campaign April 12, raking in a record-setting $5.7 million in pledges.  So now what?

    Michael Desmond / AP file

Fans came through on Kickstarter to support a "Veronica Mars" movie.

Marshmallows are going to get s'mores!

("Marshmallows" is star Kristen Bell's affectionate name for fans, based on a line from the series' pilot.)

And not just s'more "Mars": The campaign's more than 91,000 contributors -- the most project backers in Kickstarter history -- will receive additional rewards (exclusive stickers) in addition to the incentives promised for specific donation amounts.

WHO: Nearly everyone who used to be friends, a long time ago. Besides Bell herself, fans can count on most of Veronica's Scooby gang to join her on the big screen. Based on official confirmations, comments from creator Rob Thomas and the actors' own Twitter accounts, that includes Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni), Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) and Dick Casablancas (Ryan Hansen) -- all of whom appeared in the Kickstarter launch video. Wallace (Percy Daggs III), Weevil (Francis Capra) and Deputy Leo (Max Greenfield, now starring on "New Girl") have all tweeted encouraging messages.

Thomas also confirmed to Wired that Ken Marino will reprise his role as slick PI Vinnie Van Lowe -- and even joked in the Kickstarter video that he would resurrect Lily Kane: " There's gotta be a way to write Amanda Seyfried into the movie. I mean, there's dead-dead and then there's TV dead."

WHAT: "The movie title is going to simply be 'Veronica Mars,'" Thomas tweeted, offering up a few cheeky sequel suggestions ("The Password to Lockspur Lane" or "Electric Boogaloo"). He's already written the first draft of the script, which will center around Neptune High's 10-year reunion. The series' end coincided with Veronica's last investigation, and as Thomas ominously told Wired, "Not only that was the last time she worked a case, but she left Neptune shortly there after. She ruins her father’s career as an officer of the law, and he gets indicted."

When the movie begins, Veronica is a recent graduate of Columbia Law School, "waiting to take the bar, and interviewing with law firms," said Thomas. "But then something happens in Neptune that pulls her back, and makes her metaphorically pick up her magnifying glass again."

WHERE: Neptune, obviously! Actually, Thomas said the film will likely shoot in San Diego, where the original series was filmed. The gang is also headed to San Diego Comic-Con in July, hosting a party for fans and possibly (fingers crossed!) hosting a panel at the actual convention.

WHEN: Filming begins this summer for a 2014 release.

WHY: Do you need to ask? If so, carve out some time to marathon the entire series. You won't regret it!

HOW: Well, $6 million helps -- along with the backing of the studio. Warner Bros just began running web ads congratulating Thomas and Bell on the success of the movie's fundraising campaign.

What do you hope to see in the big-screen version of "Veronica Mars"? Share your dreams and congrats on our Facebook page!

  • Is 'Dancing With the Stars' rehabbing Andy Dick's image?

    Craig Sjodin / ABC

Andy Dick has turned detractors into fans on "Dancing With the Stars."

America loves a comeback, but many fans of "Dancing With the Stars" bristled when ABC announced that troubled comedian Andy Dick was joining the cast for season 16.

Is he really a "star"? After all, instead of his career in Hollywood, the 47-year-old performer is most famous for his past struggles with alcohol and drugs, a disturbing rap sheet and making anti-Semitic remarks.

    Would anyone vote for him?

The surprising answer is yes. America really does love a comeback.

In fact, despite his low scores, Dick has garnered enough votes to make it to week five in the competition.

He's even won over the judges. Carrie Ann Inaba was moved to tears by his poignant performance on "Best Year of My Life" night -- a Viennese waltz set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which he dedicated to his daughter.

"Your movement vocabulary is small, but what you said with those few words is so beautiful," Inaba said.

What Dick lacks in his dancing skill -- no one believes he's a serious contender for this season's mirror-ball trophy -- he more than compensates for with his enthusiastic effort and his attempt to better himself.

"You're not a great dancer, and you know that," said judge Len Goodman after Dick's comical "Prom Week" cha-cha with pro Sharna Burgess,  "but what you do is you make me feel good. I feel better after watching you than I did before you danced."

Obviously, the fans feel the same way, and not just about Dick's dancing. Both on and off the ballroom floor, the audience has grown to appreciate his vulnerability, honesty and genuine emotion. Take, for example, their comments on our Facebook page about his cha-cha:

"Andy Dick impressed me the most. He clearly working hard and trying to improve himself," wrote Pamela Kay. "So glad that I had the opportunity to be in the audience last Monday and to talk with him personally at a nearby restaurant afterwards. He is taking this gig very seriously and it shows!"

"How sweet after all the upheaval in his life his daughter seems to adore him and he her," wrote Christine Alexander Moore.

"Dancing With the Stars" has become a celebration of Dick's sobriety -- for both himself and the viewers who find inspiration in his story.
