Kaley Cuoco reveals 'Big Bang Theory' set mishap: 'I had blood gushing down my face!'

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, TODAY contributor

Does anyone have more fun on set than "The Big Bang Theory" cast and crew? Last fall, the gang delighted a live audience and its writing staff with an impromptu "Call Me Maybe" flash mob that went viral, and other behind-the-scenes stunts always make for a wildly entertaining gag reel each season.

But sometimes, as star Kaley Cuoco said Wednesday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," their pranks can go terribly awry.

After finishing a scene for this season's Valentine's Day episode, in which Leonard and Penny get in a fight, the actress explained that she and her mischievous partner, Johnny Galecki, decided to provide some extra footage for the gag reel.

"We decided to do a (surprise) prank where Johnny punches me," the blond beauty revealed. At first, everything seemed to go "perfectly": "I go flying off the chair, the chair comes after me…the writers are laughing, Chuck Lorre's laughing, everyone's cracking up."

But under the table, Cuoco wondered whether she took a genuine hit.

"I kinda feel like something's throbbing," she said, but was most concerned about whether Galecki's roundhouse "looked real." She got her answer when she stood up and was covered in blood.

    Follow @ TODAY_ent

"Everyone thought I was under the table painting blood on my face, (but)  I had cracked my head open," Cuoco shared. "I had blood squirting down my face. I didn't even know!"

She took it in stride; her "sensitive" castmates not so much. "We don't have a very macho group of people … Johnny's in tears, Simon's vomiting in the corner, the blood is gushing down my face. I was amazed at how much was on my face … I thought it was the most awesome thing in the world."

Not so awesome? The six stitches and black eye on her face, which coincided with the SAG awards. "So I decided to have the brilliant idea to wear (fake) bangs … because it covered my black eye and I was really insecure."

She felt even worse when critics slammed her "helmet-style hair." "It was honestly the worst-reviewed hair in history," she said, quoting some of the reviews. "These bangs … almost ruined my entire career!"

But with Kimmel's help, Cuoco was finally able to "say goodbye forever" to the hairpiece: They attached the fake fringe to a bunch of helium balloons and sent it skyward from the studio.

Bob Newhart's 'Big Bang Theory' role might get bigger

    Getty Images / CBS

Bob Newhart is set to guest star opposite "Big Bang Theory" regular Jim Parsons on May 2.

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

Television legend Bob Newhart will soon bring his dry comedic stylings to "The Big Bang Theory," but his guest spot -- set to air May 2 -- could turn into the start of something bigger.

Newhart, 83, will play Professor Proton, a character modeled after classic TV science types Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye, who Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) loved as kids.

"Sheldon and Leonard watched (Professor Proton's show) religiously, and it influenced them to go into science," Newhart told TV Guide. "When they find out he's doing appearances, they book an appointment."

Twitter Follow Ree Hines on Twitter

But that's just where the fun begins.

According to the star, the episode ends in a way that potentially "sets it up for me to return a couple more times next season."

That's good news for fans and good news for Newhart, who seemed to enjoy his time on the set, if a recent photo with his family is anything to go by.

Will Leonard leave Penny and 'Big Bang Theory' on finale?

    By Anna Chan, TODAY

Let the speculation begin! CBS on Friday revealed the story line for the season six finale of "The Big Bang Theory," and it looks like the gang is going to be in for a bit of a shock.

    Cliff Lipson / CBS

CBS revealed that on the season six finale, Leonard (Johnny Galecki, left) will receive an overseas job offer that surprises Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons).

"Sheldon and Penny are thrown for a loop when Leonard is offered an exciting job opportunity overseas," the network's release reads.

There's no hint as to whether or not Leonard (Johnny Galecki) will accept the position, but he hasn't exactly been shy about jumping at great career opportunities in the past. Remember when he presented research at a conference despite Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) very strong objections in season one's "The Cooper-Hofstadter Polarization"? (Best geek fight in the history of TV!) Or when he left crush Penny (Kaley Cuoco) behind to go on a three-month expedition to the North Pole in season two?

CBS' blurb suggests that Leonard's roommate and girlfriend will both be surprised by his latest opportunity. Will Penny be shocked that the man who worships the ground she walks on would consider leaving her now that they've been a couple since season five? Will Sheldon be astonished that Leonard, whom he considers to be intellectually inferior (then again, who isn't when compared to the great Sheldon Cooper?), would obtain what he thinks is a fab opportunity far beyond Leonard's skills?

Twitter Follow The Clicker on Twitter

Twitter Follow Anna Chan on Twitter

And there's this to consider: If Leonard accepts the overseas job, will he be gone just for the period between the end of season six and the kickoff of season seven? Or could this be a permanent position and the end of Leonard on "Big Bang Theory"? OK, maybe not the latter, as Galecki's contract goes through season seven. But if he does take the job, perhaps Leonard will Skype in to check on the gang, the same way his ex-girlfriend Priya stayed on the show when she moved back to India.

But let's hope there's more Leonard rather than less next season. Fans will find out when the finale airs on May 16. "Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Would you keep watching if Leonard left for good? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

'Big Bang Theory' star Mayim Bialik's surprising stance on Sheldon-Amy romance

    CBS

Sheldon tries to nurse a sick Amy back to health on "The Big Bang Theory."

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, TODAY contributor

Are Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler ever going to get past second base on "The Big Bang Theory"? Not if Mayim Bialik, who plays the nerdy neurobiologist on the CBS hit, has any say.

"I kind of like us the way we are," she told TODAY.com.

"Sheldon made a comment that he could picture the two of them having coitus (and) honestly, I was surprised that the producers were ready to have his character say that," shared the former "Blossom" star.

"I think it's really sweet that we depict an as-yet nonsexual romantic intimate relationship that is very sweet. But anything can happen on our show."

That includes some kinky spanking, the unforgettable moment that fans can enjoy (or cringe about) again on Thursday's rebroadcast of "The Fish Guts Displacement."

Originally, viewers weren't intended to actually see Sheldon deliver the corporal punishment to his "very bad girl" girlfriend.

"The naughty was (originally) supposed to be off-camera," Jim Parsons revealed at PaleyFest last month, adding: "It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do -- because I found it tremendously amusing."

But Bialik paid the price for the her co-star's repeated attempts "to get the sound we wanted": "There was some redness," she admitted.

"One thing I like about Amy is that she's very honest almost to a fault" -- except when she's tricking Sheldon, Bialik told us. "She's not afraid to bend the rules in terms of what's expected of her, or what people think she should act like, dress like, be like (or) have a relationship like."

And like her brainy character, Bialik wants to encourage girls to pursue the sciences.  The actress has even partnered with DeVry University to inspire young women to pursue their goals.

Unfortunately, Bialik didn't share any screen time with legendary comedian Bob Newhart, who is guesting on the show May 2.

Twitter Follow The Clicker on Twitter

Twitter Follow Drusilla Moorhouse on Twitter

"I'm not in (the) episode sadly, so I did not get to meet him," said the chagrined actress. "It's really a bummer. I've been a huge 'Newhart' fan and spent many -- I don't know if they were lonely teenage years, but many appropriate teenage years watching ''Newhart' late at night."

When we asked Bialik what other series she'd like to guest on herself, she confessed, "I don't watch television. I've heard of shows. I was a huge fan of 'Northern Exposure' 20 years ago. I actually was seated next to (its star) Rob Morrow at this Alzheimer's benefit the other night and I was geeking out in my head the whole time. I've heard that 'Downton Abbey' is a good show and I sometimes look good in period pieces, so that might be fun."

(Maybe Lady Edith can interview famous scientist Marie Curie for her newspaper column?)

As to where "Big Bang" is headed, Bialik is completely in the dark.

"We know nothing" about the upcoming sixth-season finale, she told us. "(The writers) sort of go where their passion takes them!"

'Big Bang Theory' cast performs 'Rocky Horror' classic number

    By Ashley Majeski, TODAY contributor

Although Jim Parsons is used to sporting T-shirts featuring robots and scientific equations for his role as nerdy Dr. Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory," the actor was willing to strip down to a corset and fishnets — in the name of sweet charity.

The stars of "Big Bang Theory, from left, Simon Helberg, Jim Parsons, Melissa Rauch, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco perform onstage at the 21st Annual "A Night at Sardi's" to benefit the Alzheimer's Association at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

Parsons and the rest of the cast of the hit CBS comedy dressed up as characters from the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" Wednesday to perform the play’s signature musical number, “The Time Warp,” during the 21st annual “A Night at Sardi’s” awards dinner and celebrity musical review. Stars and entertainment industry leaders gather each year and perform musical numbers from Broadway shows to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

“This is the fifth year we, as the ‘Big Bang’ cast, have come here to do a number to keep bringing attention to this cause,” Parsons told "Entertainment Tonight" that evening. He played “sweet transvestite” Dr. Frank-N-Furter during the performance. “There is no cure yet and it’s just very important to keep attention on it until there is one.

“None of us sing very well, and it’s never necessarily good what we do, but, like a train wreck, you can’t take your eyes off of it so there’s the attention.”

Joining Parsons on stage were Kaley Cuoco as Magenta the maid, Simon Helberg as servant Riff Raff, Johnny Galecki as Brad Majors, Melissa Rauch as tap-dancing Columbia, and Kunal Nayyar as biker Eddie.

“It’s a great cause. It’s very important to us and it’s become more important over the years and it’s an honor that they keep asking us back,” Cuoco told "ET" before the group’s performance, adding that, “It’s going to be scary. It’s going to be a horror. Terrifyingly bad. But we’ll have fun!”

Last year, the "Big Bang" cast performed “Let the Sunshine In” from the musical "Hair!" at the event.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, the “Night at Sardi’s” events have raised more than $21 million to date.

Bob Newhart is set to guest star as Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) favorite science show host.

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, TODAY contributor

"The Big Bang Theory" is about to get even funnier: Legendary comedian Bob Newhart is guesting on the CBS sitcom this May!

As TVLine first reported, Newhart is playing Sheldon's childhood hero, Professor Proton, the host of a science show.

"Big Bang" producers Bill Prady and Steven Molaro teased the exciting casting news to The Clicker a few weeks ago at their sitcom's PaleyFest event.

"We have a really great actor coming up," said Prady, pointing out that unlike Wil Wheaton, Steven Hawking or Katee Sackhoff, for example, "he's not from the world of science or science fiction."

Twitter Follow Drusilla Moorhouse on Twitter

"The part he's going to play is someone (Sheldon and Leonard) loved when they were kids," added Molaro. "We're really excited about it."

No one is more excited than Sheldon (Jim Parsons)! When he finds out the fictional version of "Bill Nye the Science Guy" is now a professional party circuit celebrity, he hires him to join the gang at Casa Cooper.

To see Newhart -- and his famous deadpan delivery -- tune in to "The Big Bang Theory" Thursday, May 2 on CBS.

'Big Bang Theory' stars tease 'bittersweet' episode, romance

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, TODAY contributor

Our beloved "Big Bang Theory" characters are growing up so fast! OK, maybe that's a stretch, but in Thursday night's "Closet Reconfiguration," the gang not only have a "grown-up cocktail party," but we see a new level of emotional maturity, especially in Howard and Bernadette's marriage.

    Monty Brinton/CBS

As Simon Helberg explained to The Clicker at Wednesday night's PaleyFest, "A letter surfaces from Howard's father who abandoned him and his mother when he was a kid and sent the letter to Howard on his 18th birthday. And Howard never opened it. Unfortunately, Sheldon does -- innocently -- and with that comes kind of a disaster ... everything kind of spirals out of control..."

"But the entire gang -- they're the best friends anybody can have," he added. "They do everything they can to make Howard feel better about this. There are a lot of emotions -- I think it should be pretty bittersweet."

Melissa Rauch told The Clicker that the episode is one of her favorites and touched her deeply.

"I think it's so beautifully written," she said. "When I got the script, the night before, I cried on my couch reading it. I just think it's so beautiful -- the writers have done such a good job making their relationship progress at a normal speed and now they've just such a wonderful job with the marriage of these characters.

"You see them navigating the sticky stuff, but when it comes down to it they love each other so much and the fact that Howard's going through this…Bernadette feels like she's going through it with him. I think that's a marriage."

Aw! Don't expect the same level of commitment between Amy and Sheldon any time soon, the actors warn.

"Their relationship's very delicate and our writers are very careful about it," Mayim Bialik told The Clicker. "So it's not going to progress super rapidly either way."

Twitter Follow The Clicker on Twitter

Twitter Follow Drusilla Moorhouse on Twitter

Emmy winner Jim Parsons agrees. "I don't think (Sheldon) will want to move faster," he said. "I think he is intrigued by Amy on that level you would hope to feel. I do think he finds something mysterious about her. He must, or why would he be with her at this level? She doesn't bug him any less than other people do. She gets him and there's something about her that he doesn't want to be apart from."

Meanwhile, Raj is finally getting lucky in love!

"You gotta be excited about Raj and Lucy," enthused producer Chuck Lorre. "They have so many obstacles to overcome to have a meaningful relationship. You have to root for them."

5 shows we'd quit if the best characters left

    By TODAY staff

    HBO / PBS / CBS

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones," Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess on "Downton Abbey," and Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper on "Big Bang Theory."

Ensemble casts on television often give their shows a great chemistry that can't be beat. But when one person makes an exit, it can sometimes change the flavor too much, throwing off the delicate balance and leaving fans wondering if it's time to change the channel. (Remember when David Duchovny left "X Files"? Or when George Clooney bailed on "ER"? How Steve Carell quit "The Office"?)

Siobhan Finneran's announcement last week that she was leaving "Downton Abbey" left fans of the period drama torn. Good riddance to nasty maid O'Brien, some declared, while others wondered who -- if anyone -- could stir the pot of trouble she so expertly handled.

That got us thinking: Which shows would we quit if certain characters left? Here's what we came up with:

    The Dowager Countess, 'Downton Abbey'
Everyone focuses on the Dowager Countess’ many witty quips on “Downton Abbey.”  And for good reason -- they’re great. ("Oh my dear, you flatter me, which is just as it should be.") But they’re only part of why the Dowager IS “Downton.” Even though Maggie Smith is 78, her physical acting can either break your heart or break you up in giggles. Who can forget her battle with Matthew Crawley’s unexpected swivel chair? (As with everything, she blames the Americans.) And though everyone keened over Lady Sybil’s death, it was the Dowager who delivered the most touching tribute. “We’ve seen some troubles, you and I,” she tells Carson. “Nothing worse than this.” And as she walks forward, her grief nearly knocks her down, like a swell in the ocean. For just a minute, she has to grab the wall to steady herself before walking forward alone, a black-clad ship that’s been battered, but cannot allow itself to sink. -- Gael Fashingbauer Cooper

    Tyrion Lannister, 'Game of Thrones'
There's no shortage of great characters on HBO's "Game of Thrones." Some have been with the show since the beginning, such as dragon matriarch Dany. Some of the best ones are later additions, like the Onion Knight himself, Davos Seaworth. And some of the greats are already long gone -- RIP, Ned Stark. But there's really only one character the show could never do without. Battles would be less cunning and trips to the brothels far less funny without the true lion of the Lannisters, Tyrion. He dishes more dry one-liners than "Downton's" Dowager ("I'm a monster, as well as a dwarf -- you should charge me double") with a decidedly deadlier streak ("Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!"). -- Ree Hines

Twitter Follow The Clicker on Twitter

Sheldon Cooper, 'The Big Bang Theory'
Yes, Penny, Leonard, Howard, Bernadette, Raj and Amy Farrah Fowler all have their bright moments on the show (and quite a few of them!), but without their brilliant, egotistical and socially incompetent pal Sheldon, there would be no one around to give them the hilarious situations they always find themselves in. Sure, one episode had Sheldon discovering that his friends could survive without him in their social group -- and quite well, at that -- but whether the comedy could do the same is another question. Yes, some shows have continued by recasting major roles (Becky on "Roseanne," Darrin on "Bewitched," for example). But could another actor truly capture the essence of Sheldon as Jim Parsons does? As the theoretical physicist might say, "That is highly illogical." -- Anna Chan

    Roger Sterling, 'Mad Men'
I’ve always suspected that Roger Sterling could go the Lane route and off himself at a moment’s notice. After all, he’s a double divorcé who wiles away his worries with drinks, unfulfilling sexual dalliances and Pete-bashing witticisms. (Who doesn’t love to hate Pete, though?) But that was before Joan and Roger’s little accident. It’s given Roger something to live for and the once-self-centered man, a man who left his first wife because she was getting too old, may be entering a state of reform and taking a step back from the proverbial rooftop edge. At least I hope so. I couldn’t imagine “Mad Men” without such a politically incorrect hedonist in the mix. A man who excuses his infidelity by saying, "We've all parked in the wrong garage." A man who looks at a journalist with a peg leg and says, "They're so cheap they can't even afford a whole reporter." Roger's a man who says exactly what he wants to say when he wants to say it. Rude? Absolutely. Hilarious and charming? Even more so. -- Cody Delistraty

    Lafayette, 'True Blood'
Bon Temps is crawling with interesting characters, be they living, dead or somewhere in between. Of course, most of the action in the creepy bayou backwoods revolves around "True Blood's' leading lady, Sookie Stackhouse -- the fellas in town certainly can't get enough of her. But while losing Sookie might be a deal breaker for Bill, Eric or Alcide, that doesn't mean she's the important character as far as those of us on the other side of the screen are concerned. "True Blood" would lose most of its heart, soul, attitude, comic relief and -- now that Russell Edgington is gone -- all of its quote-worthy snaps if it ever lost Lafayette. He's the cook-turned-dealer-turned-hustler-turned-medium who can bring a laugh or lay down a (warning: curse-filled) bit of wisdom with equal ease, and the show wouldn't be the same without him. -- Ree Hines

    By Alyssa Toomey, E! Online

Kaley Cuoco is here to grant your Super Bowl wishes. The "Big Bang Theory"  star plays a genie in a fun new commercial for the Toyota Rav4 which will air during the big game on Feb. 3, and both a teaser and a full 60-second commercial have popped up online.

Are 'Big Bang Theory's' Leonard and Penny getting engaged?

By Lesley Goldberg, The Hollywood Reporter

    Michael Yarish / CBS

Johnny Galecki teases that an engagement might on the way for Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard.

Could Leonard and Penny boldly be going where only one of "The Big Bang Theory's" lovable nerds has gone before and getting engaged?

The on-again, off-again couple -- who recently took their relationship to the next level when Penny (Kaley Cuoco) finally professed her love for Leonard -- could be considering the idea, according to co-star Johnny Galecki.

"Next week we start shooting the Valentine's Day episode," the actor behind Leonard tells The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a big one for Leonard and Penny -- there might be somebody getting down on one knee."

Galecki said the February episode, airing coincidentally on Feb. 14, would be in the vein of the widely popular Christmas episode in which Penny gifts a napkin autographed by "Star Trek's" Leonard Nimoy (and containing his DNA!) to Sheldon (Jim Parsons), resulting in a rare display of affection.

"We never started doing holiday event shows until two or three seasons in when we did the Christmas episode; that was a big hit and we struck a chord of sentimentality with our audience and we'll continue to do so," Galecki said. "The Valentine's Day episode will be that."

The fan-favorite couple has certainly been through the ringer, having split when Penny was unable to return Leonard's profession of love, reuniting in "Big Bang's" 100th episode.

"The ball is still in her court," Galecki said. "The last couple of seasons have really been about her emotional inabilities. It's made that character of Penny a well-rounded one and you'd assume it would always be Leonard's fault but he's been a pretty good partner to her."

As for whether or not the potential proposal is successful or not, Galecki remained mum. "I don't know if it'll work out, I'm just saying," he said with a smile.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.

'Big Bang Theory' or 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'? See the photos

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

On Thursday night's "Big Bang Theory," Sheldon and the guys go on a comic-book-convention road trip that soon turns into a sci-fi adventure. Good thing they dressed for an away mission.

Promo photos from the episode reveal the core crew decked out in their "Star Trek: The Next Generation" finery. Howard (Simon Helberg) channeled his inner Borg, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) made for a perfect stand-in for security chief Worf, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) dressed as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) aptly outfitted himself as Data.

'Walking Dead' wows! 'Big Bang' blossoms! Best scripted TV scenes of 2012

    HBO / CBS / ABC

Bill on "True Blood," Sheldon and Amy on "Big Bang Theory," and Mark on "Grey's Anatomy."

By Anna Chan and Ree Hines, TODAY

They're the moments that you can't forget. The ones you end up watching over and over -- whether on your DVR, online or just in your head. They're the best, most memorable TV spots, and scripted TV had no shortage of those unforgettable scenes in 2012.

For prime-time viewers who want to relive the action again -- or for those who missed it the first time around -- check out our list of must-see moments of the year.

    'Big Bang Theory'
Oh, how Sheldon and Amy's relationship has blossomed! The pair hit a significant milestone in the season five finale when anti-affection Sheldon sweetly held his lady's hand as they watched Howard blast off in to space. That first touching moment has led to a softer side of the theoretical physicist in season six, which has seen Sheldon apply the relationship agreement -- not for his own gain -- and actually cared for Amy when she was sick, instead of walking away and keeping her germs at bay. Go boldly, sweet genius, to where your selfish mind didn't think was necessary for human relations.

    'Walking Dead'
Bang bang! You're dead! TWICE! Shane's double death in season two's penultimate episode perfectly highlights why AMC's zombie drama is one of the best scripted shows on TV. It propelled the story forward (zombie bites not required for infection, sets up the Ricktatorship), packed a huge emotional punch (Rick kills his BFF, little man Carl kills his former stepdad figure while Rick watches) and was a massive jaw-dropper (THEY KILLED SHANE! Then ZOMBIE Shane!!!). Scripted TV doesn't get much better than that. But we also have to give an honorable mention to Daryl in episode five of season three, when he delivered one of the show's tenderest moments as he cooed to "little ass kicker" while feeding the baby girl.

    'Saturday Night Live'
"SNL" often finds its best humor in politics, and there's nothing like an election year to really bring out the best of the best. The electoral laughs kicked off on the season premiere, when Bill Hader channeled his inner Clint Eastwood for a chair-centric bit that no doubt had viewers falling out of their seats. Then there was side-splitter where Jason Sudeikis' Mitt Romney tossed a reasonable facsimile of Karl Rove out of his life after the vote didn't go his way. But both of those sketches were topped when one not-so political Muppet stopped by the "Weekend Update" desk after being name-checked in one of the presidential debates. Big Bird didn't get his feathers ruffled over it, but he did get in one zinger: "You know who loves debates? De-fishes. Because fish eat bait!"

    'Breaking Bad'
Pretty much every episode of season five was great television, but the entire hour of episode five was simply amazing. In "Dead Freight," Walt, Jesse, Mike and Todd pull off a heist of epic proportions: 1,000 gallons of hard-to-obtain meth ingredient methylamine. From a train that the gang stops in its tracks. And without anyone being any the wiser to the massive theft. Even more stunning, it was former loser/drug addict Jesse -- not Walt -- who came up with the brilliant idea of how to pull it off without killing any innocent folks. And the plan went off without a hitch ... until the final jaw-dropping moment.

    'True Blood'
After a season chock-full of death, mayhem and vampire fundamentalism (and not nearly enough Christopher Meloni), "True Blood" wrapped it up with an expectedly bloody finale -- in a completely unexpected way. Sure, somebody finally downed the last drops of Lilith's ancient, hallucinogenic blood, but who really thought it would be hardcore religious convert Bill Compton? If his eagerness to down all the precious liquid wasn't enough of a shocker, what happened next sure was. Fans of the Bon Temps drama were faced with what appeared to be (gasp!) Vampire Bill's true death, right before they were treated to his true resurrection. (Watch.) Long live Billith! Next summer can't come soon enough.

    'Grey's Anatomy'
Who didn't need a few tissues in the season eight finale as Lexie lay dying while pinned under debris from the plane crash?! In one of the most bittersweet moments in recent TV memory, Mark and Lexie -- who had broken up in season seven -- confessed their love for each other during her last moments. "We can get married! You're going to be an amazing surgeon. We're going to have two or three kids! ... You and me, we're going to have the best life, Lexie. We're going to be so happy, so you can't die," Mark cried. "Because we're supposed to end up together. We're meant to be." She died a minute later, and he followed in episode two of season nine. (We're choking up again as we type.)

    '30 Rock'
When the perennially single and never sentimental Liz Lemon decided to finally swap vows with her main man, it was no surprise that she opted for a quickie courthouse affair. "Getting married in a sweatshirt, no bra!" the snarky third-wave feminist declared. It was just what fans of the show expected of her. But before the big event, Liz caught white-wedding, perfect princess fever -- well, at least her version of it. And then, in just the sort of twist on a theme that "30 Rock" does so well, she showed up dressed in her well-worn Princess Leia gown, ready for groom Criss Chros to place a police-auction knuckle-ring on her finger. The groom got a golden grill. Aw. Now that's how a wedding episode should be done!
