Darth Vader visits Disneyland, rides the teacups

By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, NBC News

Hey Darth Vader, your boss' company just got bought for $4 billion! What are you going to do now? Obviously, you're going to Disneyland.

Back in June 2011, Disney released a fun video showing Darth Vader enjoying Disneyland with a constant escort of two stormtroopers.  This week, after the Mouse purchased Lucasfilm, the parent company of "Star Wars," the company recut the video and uploaded it again with opening text referencing the sale.

Old or new, it's a hoot to see the Dark Lord of the Sith spinning around in a teacup, riding high in Dumbo, mellowing out on the carousel and picking up popcorn. It's unclear how he would eat it, though, since one of the accompanying stormtroopers realizes too late he doesn't have a mouth to sip the tasty beverage he just purchased.

If you want to see a slightly longer version of Darth at Disney, check out the 2011 version, which includes Darth being frustrated by the then-closed "Star Wars" Star Tours attraction and finally using his powers to declare it open.

Should you happen to be at Disneyland, though, and see the Dark One striding around, we highly suggest you let him cut in line.

Breathe easy, for 10 hours, with this Darth Vader video

    Twentieth Century Fox

    Luke, you are sleeeeeepy.

    By Kurt Schlosser, NBC News

Are you one of those people who needs some sort of white noise machine to relax or fall asleep? Ever use one of those contraptions to soothe a restless baby? Well, perhaps the sound of a breathing Dark Lord can help.

Forget whales talking or raindrops on a tin roof. If your cranky kid isn't counting stormtroopers in his or her sleep after this, then you might be out of luck.

Witness, 10 hours (!) of Darth Vader breathing:

    Watch on YouTube

All done? Hope you got a meal and some sleep while you were playing that back.

Vader's signature inhale and exhale, otherwise known as breathing, is as recognizable a sound bite as there is in cinema. The only downside of using it in your kid's room may come if you're one of those new parents who likes to check on a sleeping baby to see if he's still breathing. I found that this was tough to do in the dark, when I myself was barely awake. With Vader "in the room," one couldn't be sure who was making all that noise. Although, if your baby breathes like Vader you might want to visit a doctor.

Some of the comments on YouTube -- where the video has 52,000 views of presumably less than 10 hours each -- are pretty fun.

"I watched this last night, thinking it would be great to fall asleep to. Turns out that if I wake up in the middle of the night and hear the *PUF-KTCH* noise, it just makes me terribly frightened of someone being in the room ..." said user DarkAztek.

"Somehow I imagine Darth Vader sleeping when I listen to this this longer than 3 minutes. All it needs is some occasional dream mumbling.... "It iiiissss yooouuur deeessssssssssssstinyyyyy"... ...*turns over*....." wrote karaokefreak1.

Whether or not the video freaks you out or returns you to the dark side of a sleepless night, it's further proof that any fan with 10 hours of spare time will always find a way to celebrate "Star Wars."

Think you could fall asleep to that video or use it in some other way? Share your thoughts on Facebook.

Man in Darth Vader mask gets Tasered

    Sang Tan / AP

Not the man who was arrested.

By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, NBC News

Like the real Darth Vader, he didn't go down easy.

An apparently drunken man wearing a Darth Vader mask was Tasered Thursday in Florida -- but it took pepper spray to finally bring him under control, NBCMiami.com reports.

The site has a photo of the man, Michael E. Cole, 28, who's sadly not wearing the mask in his mug shot. Apparently a  Florida Highway Patrol officer responded to a call about an intoxicated man walking in the middle of an Orlando street wearing Vader's mask.

When Cole started to hit and kick the officer, he was Tasered, but his heavy jacket (and the Force?) protected him. Apparently Sith Lords have no protection against pepper spray, which was then used on Cole. He was treated at a hospital and then booked into jail on charges of felony resisting arrest and felony battery on a police officer.

NBCMiami, com, however, saves the best for last. The final two lines of the site's story read: "FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said no cape or lightsaber were found at the scene, but did say that Cole's mom came and picked up his Vader mask. The news comes less than a month after a man in a Chewbacca mask was involved in a shooting in West Palm Beach."

The Force is strong in Florida, my friends.

Which "Star Wars" character mask would you wear while defying the law? Not that you would. Discuss on Facebook.
