'Real Housewives' star Porsha Stewart on Kordell's divorce shocker: I found out on Twitter!

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, TODAY contributor

Porsha Stewart was "totally blindsided" by her husband's secret divorce filing, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star told Andy Cohen after the reality show's reunion aired.

"When I found out about the divorce, it was absolutely a surprise," she said on Sunday night's "Watch What Happens Live," explaining that she took to Twitter after her sister called to ask whether she'd "heard the news."

"The first thing I see (on Twitter) is 'Kordell divorcing Porsha,'" she revealed. "I thought this is some kind of crazy joke."

Considering her husband hadn't even moved out, her disbelief is understandable.

Even more shocking: The former couple still lives together.  And while their mansion measures approximately 12,000 square feet, Porsha calls their cohabitation a "difficult, difficult situation."

"We're in the same house, but I didn't say we speak," she clarified, adding, "And I didn't say I'm cooking, and it ain't no eggs and bacon and ham hocks no mo'!"

Reese Witherspoon and other stars who have waved the celeb card

    Atlanta Department of Correction

Reese Witherspoon and husband James Toth after their Atlanta arrest.

    By Randee Dawn, TODAY contributor

When Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon and her husband were pulled over by police early Friday morning in Atlanta, it turned out that even America's sweetheart couldn't resist pulling the celebrity card: "Do you know my name?" she asked the officer. "You're about to find out who I am."

For years tabloids have been doing their utmost to prove that celebrities are just like us -- but that all goes out the window when an A-lister (or aspiring A-lister) goes to pains to remind the little people that they're kind of a big deal.

When leaked, it's a PR disaster of the worst kind, especially when the celeb card is waved under the noses of regular folk (usually police officers) just trying to do their jobs.

    But Witherspoon is hardly alone.

    Margaret Cho vs. Korean spa
Korean spas are traditionally communal and, in gender-segregated areas, a place where people can soak and shvitz in the buff. But when the heavily-tattooed Cho sat down for a rest, the manager came over and asked her to cover up. As Cho explained in a Gawker essay in late March, "in Korean culture tattoos are very taboo and my body was upsetting everyone there." But cultural sensitivity or no, the comedian was angered. Cho continued, "This is something I have never done -- I actually said, in Korean, 'Do you know who I am?' I am Margaret Cho!"

LeBron James' mother vs. Miami Beach police
In 2011, Gloria James was picked up by police in Miami after reportedly assaulting valet worker Sorel Rockefeller. "I'm very, very humiliated because she told me again, 'Do you know who I am?' when she slapped me," said Sorel of the Miami Heat star's mom.

Lindsay Lohan's mother vs. Hollywood nightclub and Carvel ice cream
The mom who takes the cake (or not, as the case might be), however, has to be Dina Lohan. In 2009 she was turned away from Hollywood nightclub Villa when she tried to get both of her daughters in with her. Lindsay was 22, but Ali was only 15 at the time. "Do you know who I am?" Dina protested, it was reported at the time, and Lindsay jumped in with "You're making a huge mistake. Huge!" A year later, she was busted when trying to pick up a free cake from Carvel with a promotional item giving Lindsay free ice cream for 75 years. She was turned down (because the entire Lohan family had been abusing the privilege), and as Radar reported, she said, "It just shows how (Lohans) get treated so much worse than regular people." And yes, the cops were called.

Tom Hanks vs. West Fargo diner
Let's face it, if a celebrity asked one of us for a special favor, who would say no? In 2012, a jet company Tom Hanks was using called up the TNT Diner in North Dakota and asked owner Tammy Hagensen if she'd open her doors early for an unnamed special guest, reported the Associated Press. Curious, Hagensen opened at 4 a.m. and in walked Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and their two sons. Hanks was cool: Later he tweeted that the diner "makes killer breakfast." We all know Tom Hanks is the most fun celebrity out there -- but that's another reason why we occasionally get a Witherspoon-esque blunder -- few people can resist doing a celebrity a solid. (And by the way, that Jane-Fonda-turned-away-from-a-steakhouse story? Fake, fake, fake.)

Still, there may yet be hope for celebrities. Though the absence of smug hubris rarely gets reported on, there's at least one incident worth noting from 2009:

Bob Dylan vs. New Jersey police
According to The Awl, police were summoned to a home in Long Branch, N.J., after a report of an "eccentric-looking old man" wandering in the front yard. Officer Kristie Buble showed up and questioned him -- and he said he was Bob Dylan. But she didn't believe him, and took him back to his hotel where he and his manager verified his ID with a passport. (Later reports indicated Dylan might have been looking for a house two blocks away where Bruce Springsteen wrote "Born to Run.") You gotta respect an actual living legend who not only didn't pull out the celebrity card, but doesn't appear to even carry one.

Donald Trump offers payday for the latest 'Celebrity Apprentice' loser

    NBC

    Donald Trump.

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

Has tough boardroom boss Donald Trump gone soft? Well, if his grand gesture at the end of Sunday's episode of "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" is anything to go by, then the answer is yes!

It all happened after Team Power lost yet another challenge. When tasked with creating an engaging tourism campaign for South Africa, it was Brande Roderick who led the team to a loss against Plan B's superior ad.

Trump, with this week's boardroom advisor -- former contestant Bret Michaels -- by his side, grilled Roderick about the failure and her odd choice to have Marilu Henner and Trace Adkins face the firing squad with her.

"You're with two people who don't deserve to be fired, wouldn't you agree?" Trump said.

Roderick admitted he had a point.

    Follow @ TODAY_ent

"You know what that means, right?" he asked.

Of course, everyone in the boardroom knew what that meant. Roderick was toast. But no sooner had Trump fired her than Adkins made a special request.

"Give her some money!" the singer said. "She didn't win nothing."

Yes, despite the fact that Roderick raised plenty of money in the game, she didn't raise any for her charity, Promises 2 Kids -- a non-profit that helps abused and neglected foster children.

Hearing that, Trump decided to forgo the usual money-goes-to-winners way of the game and offered to give Roderick's worthy charity $20,000 just because.

What do you think of Trump's last-minute charitable contribution -- was he breaking the rules of the boardroom battle or just bending them for a good cause? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Would Ryan Lochte take big risks on his new reality show? Oh, jeah!

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

On Sunday night, fans of Ryan Lochte got a glimpse of what life's like for the five-time Olympic gold medalist when he's not hanging out poolside thanks to his new reality TV show, "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" But for those who missed the premiere, there's still a chance to find out the answer to the show's title question.

During a Monday morning visit to TODAY, Lochte revealed that he'd do just about anything -- the bigger the risk, the better.

"I’m not your average Olympian," he said. "You know when you think about Olympians, you think about (how) they eat, they train, they sleep. That’s it. For me that’s not the case at all. I like doing other stuff. I like going out and having a good time. I like doing stuff I could probably get myself hurt in, like playing basketball, skateboarding, surfing -- you name it, I'm doing it."

And viewers will see it -- not that he's only sharing the exciting stuff with the public. After all, the cameras capture everything!

"The first, like, couple of days … I was awake and brushing my teeth and the camera was right there," Lochte recalled. "I'm going downstairs to eat breakfast before swim practice, the camera's there. The camera is there 24/7, and I wasn’t used to that."

But now he doesn't mind the living under the lens. In fact, he's found one big perk that's come from it.

"The best thing about this show was I got really close with my family," the swimmer explained. "I mean, I was seeing them maybe once or twice every three months (before). (With) this show, I saw them once or twice every week, and it just brought us a lot closer together."

Catch more from Lochte -- and his family -- when "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" airs next Sunday at 10 p.m. on E!

'I Touch Myself' singer Chrissy Amphlett dead at 53

Martin Philbey / Redferns via Getty Images, file

Former Divinyls singer Chrissy Amplett was last month named as one of Australia's top 10 singers of all time. The 1991 hit "I Touch Myself" climbed the charts in both Britain and the United States.

    By James Grubel, Reuters

CANBERRA, Australia -- Chrissy Amphlett, who fronted the Australian group the Divinyls best known for the worldwide hit "I Touch Myself", has died in New York at the age of 53 after battling breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Her husband and former Divinyls drummer Charley Drayton said Amphlett died in her sleep, surrounded by close friends and family.

"Chrissy's light burns so very brightly," Drayton said in a statement posted on the Australian Recording Industry Association's website.

"Hers was a life of passion and creativity; she always lived it to the fullest. With her force of character and vocal strength she paved the way for strong, sexy, outspoken women."

Amphlett, who founded the Divinyls in 1980 in Sydney, was best known for her performances as a pouting, brash singer in her signature school uniform with fishnet stockings.

The Divinyls recorded five studio albums between 1982 and 1996 when they split up. The 1991 hit "I Touch Myself" climbed the charts in both Britain and the United States.

Last month Amphlett was named as one of Australia's top 10 singers of all time.

    Watch on YouTube

"Chrissy expressed hope that her worldwide hit "I Touch Myself" would be utilized to remind all women to perform annual breast examinations," Drayton said.

Amphlett also acted on stage and in film, and starred alongside Oscar winner Russell Crowe in the Australian production of the musical "Blood Brothers" in 1988, playing the mother of Crowe's character.

In 2007, Amphlett said she had multiple sclerosis and in 2010 announced she was also fighting breast cancer.

"Unfortunately the last 18 months have been a real challenge for me, having breast cancer and MS and all the new places that will take you," she wrote on Facebook in March 2012.

"My illnesses have really exhausted this little body of mine that I have thrown from one end of a stage to another and performed thousands of shows."

Crowe led the tributes to Amphlett on Twitter.

"Dear Chrissie, the last time I saw you was in the Botanic Gardens, loving life and reciting verse. That's how I'll remember you, your boy, R," wrote Crowe.

Tom Cruise's 'Oblivion' obliterates competition with $38 milllion box office

By Pamela McClintock, The Hollywood Reporter

Tom Cruise's sci-fi pic "Oblivion" opened to $38.2 million at the domestic box office to come in No. 1 after a better-than-expected performance and despite a B- CinemaScore. Overseas, the Universal pic continued to please, grossing $33.7 million in its second weekend for an international cume of $112 million and worldwide total of $150.2 million.

The movie marks the actor's best North American opening outside of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, not accounting for inflation.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski ("Tron: Legacy"), "Oblivion" co-stars Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark produced. The pic cost Universal and Elliot Inc. at least $120 million to produce.

Adult male moviegoers fueled "Oblivion," making up 57 percent of the audience.

Cruise's track record domestically has been mixed. "Jack Reacher" debuted to $15.2 million in December on its way to earning a so-so $80 million in North America. Conversely, "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," opening to $29.6 million in December 2011, turned into a box-office monster, grossing nearly $700 million worldwide.

    PHOTOS: 30 groundbreaking sci-fi films

Sci-fi is a familiar genre for Cruise, who starred in "War of the Worlds" and "Minority Report," both directed by Steven Spielberg.

Set in 2077, 60 years after Earth has been destroyed by aliens, "Oblivion" follows one of the last humans stationed on the planet as he uncovers a troubling secret.

Universal decided to get a jump on the beginning of the crowded summer box office by opening "Oblivion" now. The studio has gone aggressively after males by advertising during major sporting events including the NCAA's March Madness.

Speaking of sports, Legendary and Warner Bros.' Jackie Robinson biopic "42" continued to score strong numbers in its second weekend, declining a slim 34 percent to come in No. 2 with $18 million. The baseball drama's 10-day domestic total is $54.1 million.

Paramount's "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" jumped the $300 million mark in its fourth weekend, thanks to stellar $33 million opening in China. The sequel has grossed $111.2 million domestically and $211.7 million internationally for a worldwide cume of $322.9 million. In China, the pic outpaced the first film by a four-to-one margin.

Expanding nationwide over the weekend, Derek Cianfrance's indie drama "The Place Beyond the Pines," starring Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling, placed No. 6 in North America. The film, from Focus Features and Sidney Kimmel, took in $4.7 million for a total $11.4 million.

Beach Boys memorabilia found in storage locker goes up for auction

    Kirsty Wigglesworth / AP

A musical manuscript of "California Girls" is one of the Beach Boys items to be auctioned.

    By RJ Cubarrubia, Rolling Stone

A massive collection of Beach Boys memorabilia is up for auction, with goodies including what seems to be the band's first royalty check for $990, handwritten scores for hits like "Good Vibrations," personal photos and letters and dozens of signed contracts. The collection was discovered at a Florida storage facility and was sold unopened to a buyer after a long run of missed storage payments, the The Associated Press reports. The buyer found quite the surprise upon opening the boxes.

Brian Wilson on another Beach Boys reunion: "Doubt it"

The items are being sold as one unit and are expected to bring in several million dollars. "We thought it would be a crime to break it up," said Ted Owen of the Fame Bureau, the London-based firm leading the auction. Owen touts the collection as unique because of the handwritten scores that showcase Brian Wilson's arranging and songwriting talents.

Beach Boys releasing 50th anniversary tour compilation

"What's striking is just how creative and detailed it is," Owen said. "You get the notes, then you move into the music sheets, he does the horn construction, the violin construction, you see the song development. This is right from the beginning --  well thought-out melodies, well thought-out harmonies. It's an inside view of the construction of songs, and his genius, really."

The items appear to have been placed in the storage unit for safekeeping in the mid-Seventies by a relative of a band member. The Beach Boys attempted to secure legal ownership of the memorabilia, but Owen said the archives were ruled a fair find and the rights are all clear for sale. The band is not too thrilled about the situation.

    Follow @ NBCNewsEnt

"I can confirm that the band is aware of the auction," Beach Boys representative Jay Jones said. "The band will not be available for interviews in regards to this matter." The auction ends May 15th.

Gary Busey goes bananas on 'All-Star Celebrity Apprentice'

    Douglas Gorenstein / NBC

Gary Busey on "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice."

    By Ashley Majeski, TODAY contributor

Penn Jillette and Lisa Rinna will have their work cut out for them if they want to win the next “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” challenge. However, avoiding the boardroom isn’t the only obstacle Team Plan B will be facing: They’ll also be tasked with having to wrangle their eccentric teammate, Gary Busey.

In this first look at Sunday's episode that NBC is sharing with TODAY.com, Busey is shown running amok as teammates Rinna and Jillette work to accomplish the latest task: creating an interactive travel expo for South Africa Tourism.

“Gary’s off ... being Gary,” Rinna says as she watches Busey become fixated on a stem of bananas.

Or as Busey calls them, "Bananos!"

Despite the project’s looming deadline, the sneak peek reveals that Busey then decides it’s time for a snack. He wanders off and emerges moments later with a cooked chicken that he proceeds to eat in front of his teammates, all while tossing bones across the room.

“Working with Gary is like basically working with a 3-year-old," Rinna complains. "(He has) no focus, no direction, no nothing. I mean, he was probably more focused on eating his chicken."

After his impromptu poultry feast, Busey leaves the room despite project manager Jillette’s sort-of attempt to stop him.

“If I’m going to be judged on how well I can keep Gary Busey in line, then I would be fired instantly,” the magician told the cameras.

Returning as a boardroom adviser this week is Bret Michaels, the "Celebrity Apprentice" season three champ who was fired in week one of "All-Stars." George Ross will also be acting as an adviser.

"All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Bradley Cooper visits Boston bombing victim

    By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, TODAY

Actor Bradley Cooper and New England Patriot wide receiver Julian Edelman visited Jeff Bauman Jr., who lost his legs in the Boston Marathon bombing, at Boston Medical Center on Thursday.

    — Julian Edelman (@Edelman11) April 19, 2013

Edelman later tweeted a photo of himself and the actor standing next to Bauman's hospital bed with the words "Visited #survivor #stud #hero Jeffrey Bauman Jr. today. He was looking great and is a true inspiration." Earlier, Edelman had tweeted, "Met a very tough guy today. #inspired."

Cooper also attended the interfaith prayer service held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston on Thursday. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama attended the service as well, with the president delivering a 20-minute speech honoring victims and the city. ABC News reporter Shushannah Walshe tweeted a photo of Cooper at the service.

Cooper is in the Boston area filming his next movie, "American Hustle," about the 1980s Abscam FBI sting operation. The film is scheduled to be released at Christmas.

Bauman, 27, was at the race cheering on his girlfriend. Both of his legs had to be amputated at the knee. After being treated at the hospital, he was interviewed by the FBI and described one of the bombers to law enforcement, his brother said.

Neil Diamond pleased 'Sweet Caroline' a comfort to Bostonians in time of need

    By Randee Dawn, TODAY contributor

Neil Diamond is pleased that his 43-year-old song "Sweet Caroline" has been used as a way for the country to rally around Bostonians in the wake of the Marathon bombings.

    Watch on YouTube

Sports teams including the New York Yankees, Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Dodgers have picked up on the longstanding Boston tradition of playing the song at Red Sox games, and have been playing it themselves in a show of support. And Diamond, the song's original singer and songwriter, has been taking notice on his Twitter feed.

"There is a lot of comfort that music can offer," he told the Associated Press. "In this particular situation, I’d much rather it not have happened than for ‘Sweet Caroline’ to become part of it. But it’s obviously offering comfort to people and I feel good about that."

The song was written in 1969 with 11-year-old Caroline Kennedy in mind. "I wrote it in a hotel in Memphis, Tenn.," Diamond said. "And I think there's a little bit of God in that song. I always have felt that. There's no accounting for what can happen to a song. But this one had something special to it.”

    Follow @ NBCNewsEnt

Diamond isn't alone; other musicians have found a different way to help assist Bostonians. Specifically, Boston group Dropkick Murphys have raised nearly $100,000 in a matter of hours for the marathon bombing victims, according to their Twitter feed.

The funds have come from the sale of a T-shirt on the band's website which reads "For Boston" on the front against the city's skyline, and on the back features the city's seal and a note: "Thank you, to all who purchased this shirt. All proceeds go to the victims and families of the Boston Marathon bombings. Love, Dropkick Murphys."

The T-shirt is still on sale, and costs $25-$27 depending on size.

'American Idol' bids farewell to Janelle Arthur

    By Craig Berman, TODAY contributor

    Frank Micelotta / FOX

Janelle Arthur finished in fifth place on "American Idol."

For the first time since the finals began, “American Idol” sent one of its women packing, though for a minute it seemed like the judges weren’t prepared to let any of the final five go.

Janelle Arthur was the lowest vote-getter, which wasn’t a shock once Amber Holcomb was deemed safe. As the country singer performed her final song, the judges huddled together and talked things over.

They have one save that would allow them to keep a singer they feel has been unjustly eliminated, and they have to use it at some point or the show’s going to end a week early and a lot of product placement people are going to be mad. (In past seasons, the judges have had to use the save by the time they get to the top 5.)

Moreover, the panel really has to use it soon, unless FOX plans on stretching the finale -- scheduled for May 15 and 16 -- over two weeks. Given the show’s propensity for dragging things out, this isn’t out of the question. And as Randy Jackson did say at the start of the show, “This is the best top five we’ve ever had!” which is the biggest compliment he’s offered since he said the same thing about the talent a year ago, two years ago, three years ago and so on.

But though the judges made the to-save-or-not-to-save decision dramatic, Randy announced that only two of the four wanted to keep Janelle (with Keith Urban being one, judging from his Twitter feed). The decision had to be unanimous, so Janelle finishes her "Idol" journey in fifth place.

It was hard to argue the result, since Janelle’s been the fourth or fifth best among the women all season. Saving her would probably have just bought her that extra week, two at the most.  And she did get to hear Ryan Seacrest read a note from Dolly Parton praising her, even if it came in the form of the worst impression of the superstar ever. (Don't quit your numerous day jobs, Ryan.)

Candice Glover had better luck, as original judge Paula Abdul showed up in person to offer kudos for Wednesday’s “Straight Up” cover. This came after Randy claimed that he’d tried to text, call and tweet the woman who used to sit next to him with no response. What does it say about Paula’s reputation that this was a completely plausible thing to say, and that it looked like it genuinely fooled Candice?

Also looking surprised was Amber. She became the third singer declared safe, after Candice and Angie Miller, and seemed stunned she wasn’t in the bottom two again. All that love from the judges following her second solo on Wednesday clearly paid off. If only she could close the show every week.

Kree Harrison was the second-lowest vote-getter, and as perennial killjoy/realist Jimmy Iovine noted, she didn't have her best series of performances this week. She’ll have to start cutting loose like she did earlier in the season instead of playing it safe with the vocals, but she would almost certainly have gotten that save if needed.

Maybe we’ll find out for sure next week, assuming the save is still on the table.

Peter Dinklage talks 'Game of Thrones,' sex appeal and (not) being a badass

    Helen Sloan / HBO

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones."

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

He stars on one of television's hottest dramas. He plays the most popular character on the show. Heck, he's nabbed an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the role. But no matter how many accolades have come his way since taking on the part of Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones," Peter Dinklage just doesn't believe the hype he hears about himself.

One of the claims Dinklage doesn't buy -- no matter what female fans say --  is that he's now a sex symbol, or as some call him, a DwILF ("Dwarf I'd like to ..." -- well, you get the idea).

"That's very clever," the actor said of the acronym in a recent 20 Questions interview with Playboy magazine. "Honestly, I think there's an irony in all of this. I take it with a grain of salt. They'll say, 'Oh, he's sexy,' but women still go for guys who are six-foot-two. It's nice that people are thinking outside the box, but I don't believe any of it for a minute."

He also doesn't believe his new "badass" image, courtesy of his "Thrones" character. And if fans knew the full story behind his onscreen adventures, he doesn't think they'd believe it either.

"There's a scene in the show when I chop a man's leg off from behind," he explained. "The gentleman was probably about 70 years old. They filmed him from the back, so you don't see how old he is. Also he's an amputee. He had one leg, so basically I just knocked out the fake leg. I had a big dull sword, and I knocked a wooden leg off an amputee who was 70 years old. So to answer your question, no, I don't feel like a badass."

In fact, he insisted that the "fight scenes are all a big lie."

"The whole time, you're trying not to get hit in the eye with a sword, and you wish you had on a welding helmet," Dinklaged added.

But even if he isn't convinced that he's as great as he appears to be on the small screen, Dinklage believes one thing firmly -- his great "Game of Thrones" role isn't going away any time soon.

"I don't think Tyrion is going anywhere," he told the magazine. "He once said that he'd like to die 'in my own bed, at the age of 80, with a belly full of wine and a girl's ...' "

Ahem! Let's just say a woman making him very happy.

"I like to think that was a premonition," Dinklage mused. "That's how he's going to go. He's a survivor."

What do you think? Is the "Game of Thrones" star the "badass" sex symbol some say he is, or is he just good at acting that way? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
