Marilyn Monroe's dress goes up for sale on 'Final Offer'

    By Anna Chan, TODAY

Movie memorabilia can cost a pretty penny -- and then some. For example, the Aston Martin used in the James Bond flick "Goldfinger" sold for $4.6 million in 2010, and Aubrey Hepburn's black "Breakfast at Tiffany's" gown sold for more than $900,000 in 2006.

But how much would a dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in her never-finished last film "Something's Got to Give" sell for? "Final Offer" answers that question in Thursday night's episode.

Deborah Burke of Stamford, Conn., is the owner of the dress and is looking to sell it for the highest price she can get, and the four shrewd dealers featured on "Final Offer" are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the pretty piece of movie history.

According to Burke, the actress wore the garment just three months prior to her 1962 death, and on the day before she sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President." So how did she come to own the dress? She bought it on eBay ... for $57,000.

"It's actually a steal for this," she explained to host Michael Kalish in an exclusive clip Discovery shared with TODAY.com.

Watch the clip and see how the four potential buyers reacted to the possibility of purchasing the dress:

Burke may think the dress is worth $1,000,000, but will she get that? Check out "Final Offer" at 10 p.m. Thursday on Discovery.

Kurt Cobain's smashed guitar up for sale on 'Final Offer'

    Discovery

    By Anna Chan, TODAY

How much would you pay for a piece of music history? Four of the country's top experts on collectibles got to ask themselves that question when one of Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain's smashed guitars went up for sale, and Discovery's new show "Final Offer" was there to capture the bidding.

Discovery shared an exclusive clip with TODAY.com in which seller Brian Scott of Columbus, Ohio, reveals that the guitar was broken on stage in November 1989. There are other characteristics, besides being smashed, that make the guitar special. "If you flip it over, there's a lot of hand-carved messages and symbols on the back that Kurt placed on there himself," Brian told the four prospective buyers. "Some of these are sort of obscene."

Watch as the buyers try to contain their glee at the possibility of purchasing such an item:

So how does the buying and selling work on "Final Offer"? The four buyers are in four different rooms. The seller chooses which buyer to haggle with first. If the seller chooses to leave a room to talk to another buyer, he can't go back to accept a previous offer. Yes, that means the seller could potentially lose out on the highest bid!
