Gwyneth Paltrow named World's Most Beautiful Woman by People

By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper , TODAY

    People

Gwyneth Paltrow is People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful Woman."

She has an Oscar, a rocker husband, two children, and now the title of World’s Most Beautiful Woman. Gwyneth Paltrow, 40, graces the cover of People magazine’s Most Beautiful People issue.

“I can’t believe it,” Paltrow said of the magazine’s honor. “I kept thinking, ‘This can’t be true.’ I’ve never been more surprised or flattered.”

Adele, Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kristen Stewart are among the many other stars who made People’s "Most Beautiful" list.

Paltrow works out two hours every day, and says her regular workouts can be “a nightmare,” but that she pushes herself to do them by viewing staying in shape as part of her job. “Let’s face it, it’s much easier to just chill out and watch TV,” she said.

Although her new cookbook, “It’s All Good,” stresses a strict diet, Paltrow admits that after a careful day of watching what she eats, she lets herself eat whatever she wants for dinner.  “Because I want to enjoy my life and I love pasta,” she told the magazine.

She also talked to the magazine about her marriage to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin. “I never make him feel hemmed in or like he’s in trouble,” she said. “And on a personal level, as friends, we really get along.”

She also addressed some untrue Internet claims, saying she doesn’t ban her children from eating carbs or eat naked in front of a mirror. “It’s all so silly,” she said of the rumors.

She spoke honestly about a miscarriage she had, saying “To this day, I feel like I’m missing that kid,” and allowed that she still thinks about possibly adding another child to her family.

The actress will reprise her role as Tony Stark’s assistant and love interest, Pepper Potts, in “Iron Man 3” which opens May 3. But Paltrow told People that because of her children, she has cut back to making only one movie per year, and she looks for something that won’t take her away from her family.

Asked what her biggest “aha moment” was, Paltrow said it was when she met her daughter, Apple. “I looked into her eyes and I was like, ‘What was I doing until this moment?’” she said.

'Iron Man' star shows off legs in lederhosen

    By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, TODAY

Who knew Iron Man was the lost Von Trapp child? Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man in the superhero movie series, donned the traditional German short pants known as lederhosen for a photo opportunity in Munich.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. promote "Iron Man 3" in Munich.

Downey posed with co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, who stuck to a more modern look, donning a white KaufmanFranco dress. Still, she showed off a little more leg than Downey, whose lederhosen covered his knees.

Downey completed the Alpine look with green socks and a green neck scarf.

"Iron Man 3" opens May 3 in the U.S.

Gwyneth Paltrow's dance moves at Jay-Z show go viral

    By Courtney Hazlett, TODAY

It started off as a well-publicized event in and of itself: Coldplay and Jay-Z co-headlining a show on New Year's Eve at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Ringing in 2013 with two great onstage acts? What could be better?

How about Gwyneth Paltrow making an appearance onstage, dancing to "Run This Town" in this now-viral video?

    Watch on YouTube

Paltrow (who's married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin) is visible on the stage along with their kids Apple and Moses. Paltrow engages in what some are calling "champagne sway-dancing," or "pony-tail whipping," while trying to entice the little ones to groove along with her.

It's been fodder for a good bit of mockery, but in our opinion, the Goop-goddess is rightly taking advantage of one of the perks of being one degree of separation from music's most-inner circle.

Gwyneth Paltrow on trading movie career for motherhood: 'You can't have it all'

    893 / Splash News

Gwyneth Paltrow with children Apple and Moses.

    By Rebecca Macatee, E! Online

Gwyneth Paltrow is an actress, Goop goddess, chef and author, but her most important role of all is being a mom.

The "Iron Man 3" star tells InStyle U.K.'s January issue she has no regrets about choosing to stay home and spend time with her kids, Apple and Moses, in lieu of continuing her movie career as a leading lady.

"I think some people, they don't understand the choice that I've made," she says. "I guess it can be seen as a risk because I don't have the same movie career that I used to have, where I star in movies three times a year. I haven't even starred in a movie since I had my kids. I just look for interesting supporting/biggish supporting parts, and try to do one a year, and that's my limit."

    Gwyneth Paltrow ate a burger on a roller-coaster -- here's why

"Some women can do it and that's fantastic, but I can't," she admits. "You make choices as a wife and mother, don't you? You can't have it all. I don't care what it looks like."

"I'm inherently a risk taker," she says. "I think I definitely do things my own way."

That she does, and it sure seems to be working out.

Gwyneth Paltrow named best dressed woman by People magazine

    By Jill Serjeant, Reuters

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was named the "World's Best Dressed Woman" of 2012 by People magazine on Wednesday, wowing the celebrity magazine with a simple elegant style that avoids some of fashion's quirkier trends.

The Oscar-winning actress, 39, and wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, headed a list of the year's style mavens that included Prince William's wife Kate, R&B star Rihanna, and the Kardashian family of TV reality show fame.

People said the list was compiled after soliciting input from the celebrity magazine's 42 million readers, its editors and fashion bloggers.

While Oscar-winner Paltrow won the best dressed title, fashion icon Kate Middleton -- formally known as the Duchess of Cambridge -- was named the woman with the best classic style.

Paltrow's stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman, told People that the actress was not a slave to trends. "She doesn't do fringe. She has a uniform. It's simple, not overdone," Saltzman said.

Emma Stone, the 23-year-old star of "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Help," was chosen as having the best red carpet style, while singer Rihanna was praised for taking the most risks in her fashion choices.

Actresses Jessica Alba (best jeans), Jennifer Lawrence (best under 25s), and Reese Witherspoon (best pregnancy) also made the top 10, along with Australian model Miranda Kerr.

Among men, honors went to actors Andrew Garfield, Brad Pitt, Colin Firth, Robert Pattinson, Chris and Liam Hemsworth and singer Jay-Z.

People also looked back at some of the fashion faux pas of 2012. The magazine recalled an orange lace dress worn with prominent black underwear by pop singer Fergie, and a floral floor-length dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker that fashion blogger Heather Cocks said made the "Sex and the City" actress look like a cast member of polygamy TV reality show "Sister Wives."

People's special "Best & Worst Dressed" double issue hits news stands on Friday and can be seen online at www.people.com/bestdressed.

Gwyneth Paltrow says ex-boyfriend cheated on her 'all the time'

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, actress Gwyneth Paltrow reveals that one former boyfriend did her wrong -- repeatedly.

    By Us Weekly

    Who did Gwyneth wrong?

In the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, cover star Gwyneth Paltrow looks back on her love life before she married Coldplay's Chris Martin and had kids Apple, 7, and Moses, 5.

    PHOTOS: Gwyneth's most obnoxious quotes

"I had a boyfriend who used to cheat on me all the time," says the Oscar winner, 39, who dated Brad Pitt from 1994 to 1997, and Ben Affleck from 1997 to 2000. (She tells the mag she was "not happy" in her 20s, when she first became a star and dated Pitt, 48, and Affleck, 39.)

"I was quite naive," she says of being cheated on by her unnamed guy. "I knew on a cellular level, but I bought his story."

    PHOTOS: Gwyneth through the years

Although she points out that she and Martin, 34, have been faithful, she says (as she has in the past), "I have friends who I love and admire who have had an affair. When I was younger, I would have said he's a terrible person or she's a terrible person. But who made these laws?"

Paltrow is also famous for her huge roster of A-list pals -- Beyonce, Madonna, Cameron Diaz -- and makes an unnamed reference to one of her mega-famous gal pals.

    PHOTOS: Gwyneth's surprise BFFs

"She is an actress and in a new relationship with someone else with a big career," Paltrow teases "And I said 'This may not be feminist, but you have to compromise. It's been all about you and you're a big deal. And if you want what you're saying you want—a family—you have to be a wife, and that is part of the equation. Gloria Steinem may string me up by my toes, but all I can do is my best, and I can do only what works for me and my family."
