What happened to the 'Hoarding' dog that inspired tears, outrage?

    TLC

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

Updated at 7 p.m. ET: What happened to the unfortunate family dog featured on Wednesday's episode of "Hoarding: Buried Alive"? That's what viewers and many of our outraged readers want to know.

During the all-round heartbreaking episode, which focused on Karen, a two-time widow whose hoarding was so out of hand it had become a danger to her children, her pets and herself, viewers were introduced to a dog that clearly suffered from neglect.

The canine with the patchy, barely-there fur and long, curling claws even brought seasoned hoarding expert Dr. Becky Beaton to tears when she saw him in the episode. But after his sad introductory scene and a brief bit of hoarse barking later, he wasn't seen again.

By the end of the show, the family home was much improved, Karen seemed happier and her sons, who had been at risk of being removed by Child Protective Services, were at least in a safer environment. But the dog? His fate remained a mystery.

    Until now.

The Clicker contacted TLC and learned that the dog is no longer in Karen's home. According to the network, the New Jersey police picked up the pooch and transferred him to the SPCA, where he was treated by their vets. One of the vet techs fell in love with the dog and adopted him.

'Hoarding: Buried Alive' expert left in tears over family dog

    TLC

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

The experts on TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive" have seen roach infestations, rotting rodents and towering stacks of garbage. Needless to say, at this point, it's hard to shock them.

So when a house call moves licensed psychologist Dr. Becky Beaton to tears on the show's upcoming season premiere, rest assured it's because she's walked in to a particularly unpleasant situation.

In an exclusive sneak peek from the episode that TLC shared with us, Dr. Becky takes a tour of a home filled with heartbreaking scenes -- along with electrical wiring, feces, mold and much more.

"It is not a place fit for children," Dr. Becky says as she peruses the problem.

That's particularly bad since Karen, the subject of the episode, has two children, and she's at risk of losing custody of them if she doesn't take care of the mess.

"She's neglected their basic needs and put them in physical danger," the expert notes.

But the kids weren't the only ones suffering due to the state of things. While making her way past the dangerous debris, Dr. Becky finds the nearly hairless and obviously neglected family dog.

"This poor dog -- it just breaks my heart," she says with tears in her eyes. "I can't take that poor dog. That they're taking care of the dog like this ... That is wrong. You can't do this to living beings!"

Find out the fate of the family and the family dog when "Hoarding: Buried Alive" premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Man's mistress inspects his wife's mess on 'Hoarding'

    By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

Every episode of TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive" features jaw-dropping moments, but usually those moments are related to the mess at hand – or whatever mass amount of creepy crawlies calls that mess home. Not so on the next installment of the clutter-filled show.

No, a sneak peek of the action to come reveals that, while Janet and Herv have quite the cobweb covered hoard, their secret shocker is the other woman who comes by to inspect it.

"About three years ago, Herv started a relationship with Wendy," Janet revealed. "He said it was just sex and it didn't mean anything. I let it go on."

To make matters worse, Wendy is Janet's friend, or maybe frenemy.

"I felt like I was just keeping an enemy close as a friend," Janet explained. "But she was getting what she wanted by having him as a sexual partner. It just hurt me terribly."

And now, evidently, what Wendy wants -- in addition to Herv -- is to get a gander at the state of Janet and Herv's home, even though it disturbs Janet.

    It's easy to see why.

"You sleep on this?" Wendy asked as she stood on the couple's bed. "You do anything else on it?"

Catch the rest of the messy relationship story when "Hoarding: Buried Alive" airs Sunday night at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Which do you think will call for a bigger clean-up, the house or the relationship? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
