"Man of Steel," the reboot of the Superman movie franchise, is just two months away, and a new trailer released Tuesday has fans buzzing.
We see a baby Superman being sent to Earth ("our hopes and dreams travel with you," says Russell Crowe as Jor-El) and then an adolescent Supes saving his classmates from a sinking school bus, scenes that have appeared in earlier trailers.
New Earth dad Kevin Costner gives him some parental love and hopeful words, but young adulthood looks tough for our hero, eventually played by Henry Cavill. He grows a beard, hitchhikes, appears to join a crew on "Deadliest Catch."
But then, as we knew he would, he finds his feet and his role. And just in time, too because evil General Zod (Michael Shannon) is ready for battle.
But our favorite scene comes at the end of the trailer, when Lois Lane (Amy Adams) asks her soon-to-be-beau what the S on his chest stands for.
"It's not an S," he says. "On my world, it means hope."
"Man of Steel" opens June 14.
