Taylor Lautner would be up for a Jacob 'Twilight' spinoff

By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, NBC News

Vampires are immortal, right? What about shapeshifting wolves? Fittingly, fans aren't ready to let the "Twilight" series die with this week's release of "Breaking Dawn Part 2."

Taylor Lautner at the premiere of "Breaking Dawn Part 2."

Various reports, including this Moviehole post, claim that the supernatural cash cow isn't going to be allowed to head out to pasture and that a spinoff, maybe focusing on Jacob Black's Wolfpack, and maybe on TV rather than in theaters, is a possibility.

Ryan Seacrest asked Black's portrayer, Taylor Lautner, about this rumor on his radio show Monday, but naturally Lautner couldn't or wouldn't confirm that any such plan is in the works.

“I honestly know as much as you do,” Lautner said. “The only thing that I’ve heard is whatever’s online and people are talking about.”

But when Seacrest asked him if he's ready to recreate his role, the 20-year-old actor was enthused. “I love this franchise and this character and everybody involved so much, I absolutely would have to consider it," he said.

Earlier this month, Lautner's co-star Robert Pattinson told Australia's Herald Sun that he kept "hearing things" about a future for the franchise. Pattinson told the paper he didn't rule out a return to playing Edward Cullen, saying "I don't say 'definitely not' to anything, just in case."

Pattinson had previously joked to Total Film that "Twilight" should be rebooted as "a straight-up porn film." And author Stephenie Meyer has mulled the possibility of a new life for "Twilight" focusing on Bella and Edward's daughter Renesmee.

'Breaking Dawn' teaser shows Bella as a vampire

    Follow @ msnbc_ent
By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, NBC News

Don't blink during the 13-second teaser video from "Breaking Dawn Part 2." It's so short you could easily miss it.

But if you are a big fan of the "Twilight" series, you'll want to tune in to see Bella using her vampire speed to book it through the Pacific Northwest woods, and to see her interacting with both vampire husband, Edward, and shape-shifting wolfie pal Jacob.

"Didn't expect you to seem so you," says Jacob upon coming back in contact with his old pal.

And as the newlyweds touch hands, Edward tells his wife with wonder, "We're the same temperature now."

That's ... pretty much it. There's another shot of Bella's ginormous ring, but nothing of Renesmee or other family members.

If you want a little more, you can watch one of many fan-recorded videos of a longer clip from the film that was shown at Target stores when the first "Breaking Dawn" came out on DVD. Not a lot happens here either, except Bella as a vampire is a pure glamour-puss, much more beautiful than she ever was as a human, with rich golden eyes, lustrous hair and seriously long eyelashes. And again, she shows off her new vampire quickness.

Wrote one reader on the video's YouTube page: "Is (Bella) that lazy that she needs to use her SUPER VAMPIRE SPEED to walk like 4 steps to the bookshelf?" Heh, good point. Apparently, yes.

"Breaking Dawn Part 2" will be released on Nov. 16.

Taylor Lautner 'out and proud' People cover a fake

    Twitter

    By Sierra Marquina, E! Online

    Nice try!

An obviously faked People magazine cover on which Taylor Lautner supposedly announced that he's "out and proud" ricocheted across the internet Monday, tricking fans and even celebs like Russell Simmons.

The Photoshopped image of the purported Jan. 7, 2012 People issue shows the "Twilight" star announcing he's gay and "tired of the rumors."

The fake cover goes on to fake-quote Lautner as saying his decision to come out has left him feeling "more liberated, and happier than I've ever been."

While the internet was abuzz, celebs like Def Jam's Simmons even fell prey to the hoax, tweeting Taylor a congratulatory tweet: "proud of Taylor Lautner for his bravery and his courage."

Once realizing the mistake, Simmons tweeted: "disappointed that people would joke about someone coming out about their sexuality. Let Taylor Lautner be whoever he wants to be...."

'Twilight's' Lautner still shirtless -- but not as much as co-stars

    By Randee Dawn, TODAY.com

The end is near! The end of the “Twilight” series, that is, which is what brought “Twilight Saga” star Taylor Lautner to the TODAY Show Plaza Wednesday morning. TODAY’s Ann Curry got right to the heart of the discussion by noting that the actor is shirtless approximately “three minutes” into the movie.

Lautner says he wasn’t shy about doing that; adding “I was lucky in this one, because I’m shirtless a lot less than (co-stars) Rob (Pattinson) and Kristen (Stewart).”

But as he noted, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 1” is “different from any of the others,” so fans be warned: “My character grows up in this one and becomes a lot more mature.”

But not so mature that he feels compelled to keep his shirt on. Good to know.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 1” opens in theaters on Nov. 18.
