Meatloaf announces he's quitting touring, citing health concerns

    By Reuters

After more than 35 years of touring, American rocker Meat Loaf is quitting the road. Meat Loaf, whose 1977 "Bat Out Of Hell" remains one of the biggest selling albums, said his "Last At Bat" tour starting in Britain this week and heading through Europe, would be his last, after struggling with health problems in recent years.

While other aging rockers like the Rolling Stones are returning to the lucrative tour circuit, Meat Loaf said he has had enough.

"This is really it ... I just don't want to travel anymore," the portly singer told Reuters TV in an interview before his tour through Britain, Germany and the Netherlands.

"I outweigh (Mick) Jagger by about 100 pounds and that counts for something. He hasn't seen the wear and tear."

Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, cancelled a European Tour in 2007 after being diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal chords, saying he received some "vicious" reaction to this.

He then sparked further fears for his health in 2011 when he collapsed on stage. He later blamed the blackouts on past concussion injuries and his health issues on asthma.

Last year he underwent a knee replacement operation from which he is still recovering and is due to have an operation on his other knee shortly.

Meat Loaf said his health was "fine" but it was important to be able to perform to your best.

"When your name is on the marque, you either get the glory or you get the hits," said the rocker, dressed all in black, who has also appeared in a list of movies, including cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

"Over the years, a lot of stones and a lot of arrows have been flying my way. You expect that."

    Follow @ NBCNewsEnt

In the "Last at Bat" tour, Meat Loaf will perform his greatest hits in the first half of the show such as "Dead Ringer for Love" and "I'd Lie For You."

In the second half he will perform, in order, the seven songs from his "Bat Out Of Hell" album which has sold around 45 million copies to date.

Meat Loaf did not rule out performing live again, such as in Las Vegas, particularly after releasing his 13th album, "Brave and Crazy", that is currently in the pipeline.

The rocker said he was working on this album with Jim Steinman, the reclusive producer and songwriter behind his biggest hits with whom he last worked on his 1993 album "Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell."

But Meat Loaf cautioned fans that if he cried while singing "Crying Out Loud", the closing song of "Bat Out Of Hell" while on tour, this was not due to sadness at quitting touring.

"Even in rehearsal when I go to sing it I start crying so it's not like when you see me in the show and I am crying it's like "oh I bet he...." I would do it in rehearsal, I can't help myself," he said.

Rare Beatles Shea Stadium photos auctioned for nearly $47,000

    By Miriam Coleman, Rolling Stone

A rare set of photographs taken at the Beatles' 1965 concert at Shea Stadium have just sold at auction for £30,680 (around $46,700).

The BBC reports that the pictures were snapped by an amateur photographer named Marc Weinstein, who used a fake press pass to get backstage at the Beatles' biggest show. The historic New York concert drew more 55,000 fans, but there was only one other photographer present – and he ran out of film.

The Beatles' "Please Please Me" 50th anniversary

In a 2009 interview, Weinstein described how he bluffed his way backstage:

"(I) had my press pass that was a phony press pass I made up," he said. "When I walked in there and I walked up to the first police officer I saw and ...  I said (puts on English accent), ‘Excuse me, sir, I’m with the Beatles entourage and I got separated from the group. Can you help me to the stage, please?’ And he looked at me and he said, ‘Sure, follow me.’ And I was stunned. (Laughs.) He ate the whole thing. He started, ‘Hey, guys, move out of the way. This guy is with the group. I’m taking him out there.’ And I just followed him."

Paul McCartney recorded new songs with Mark Ronson

The set of 61 black-and-white photos were put up for sale by Omega Auctions on Friday, the 50th anniversary of the release of the Beatles' first album, "Please Please Me."  They fetched far more than the pre-sale estimate of £15,000-£20,000. According to the auctioneer, the photographs were purchased by "a South American gentleman currently living in Washington (who) is a huge collector of Beatles memorabilia."

    By Bruna Nessif, E! Online

Rihanna's entourage had a slight delay. While making the drive from Canada to Detroit, Mich., for her "Diamonds World Tour," one of a RiRi's tour buses was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol after they got a whiff of what smelled like weed on someone.

    And no, it wasn't Rihanna.

Kris Grogan of U.S. Customs and Border Protection tells E! News that "at approximately 9 a.m. this morning, a caravan of 10 charter buses claiming association with the singer Rihanna attempted to cross in Detroit at the Ambassador Bridge.

"During primary inspection a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer referred the buses for a secondary inspection due to the strong odor of marijuana emanating from one of the buses."

Grogan added that during the second inspection, a drug-sniffing dog alerted the presence of drugs on one of the passengers.

"A search of the individual resulted in the discovery of a small amount of marijuana and civil penalty assessed," he continued, and noted that the individual was not the singer (who was not even in the traveling party). The tour buses, along with the individual, were allowed to continue driving through to the States.

    Justin Bieber cancels Portugal concert

    Isaac Brekken / AP file

    By Mike Collett-White, Reuters

Canadian singer Justin Bieber has canceled one of two concerts scheduled for this week in Portugal, the venue in Lisbon said on its website on Monday.

It was not immediately clear whether the cancellation was linked to his collapse on-stage in London last week which forced the teen sensation to take a 20-minute break to receive oxygen and then to stay overnight in hospital.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber was forced to cancel the second performance in Portugal, March 12," a statement said on the website of the Pavilhao Atlantico.

"The Canadian singer is eager to play for the Portuguese fans on March 11," it added. Ticket holders for the canceled gig were entitled to a refund if they claimed it within a month.

His U.S.-based representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Bieber described his visit to London as a "rough week."

As well as the collapse, the 19-year-old was caught on film in an expletive-filled altercation with a photographer, showed up nearly two hours late for a show leading to widespread anger and was labeled a "pop brat" by a leading tabloid.

Discovered on YouTube in 2008, Bieber has built an online following of tens of millions of fans and is one of the pop world's biggest stars. In February, he became the youngest artist to land five chart-topping albums in the key U.S. market.

    By Michael Sin, Reuters

Die-hard KISS fans looking for the ultimate in concert memorabilia from the group's current Australian tour need search no more. Why not acquire a guitar smashed onstage "in your honor" by guitarist Paul Stanley -- for a mere $5,500?

Stanley, also a singer in the U.S. hard rock group known for its garish makeup, will also be selling the microphone he sings into for $3,000, along with special microphone and guitar combination packages, his website said.

If you purchase a KISS guitar during the Australian tour, currently underway until March 16, you also get to meet Stanley before the concert and view your yet undamaged guitar, which will be smashed that night in your honor, according to Stanley's website.

Not included in the price is your concert ticket.

"What a fantastic feeling I got seeing Paul Stanley smashing 'my' guitar at the end of an unbelievable show," gushed one fan on the website after buying a guitar during an earlier British tour.

Justin Bieber booed by London fans angry over late concert start

    Reuters/Carlo Allegri

By Ralf Ludemann , The Hollywood Reporter

Justin Bieber left British fans and their parents unhappy here after starting a Monday concert nearly two hours later than advertised.

While the 19-year-old singer's young fans were kept waiting inside the O2 Arena in the British capital, frantic parents started converging on the venue expecting to pick up their children, according to the BBC.

STORY: Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney cut off on London stage after exceeding noise curfew

Fans tweeting from inside the London venue said there were boos from the crowd almost an hour before the star emerged, according to the report. Speaking after the show, one fan told the BBC: "They were playing Michael Jackson song, after song, after song --  it was so annoying."

Added the fan: "Everyone was on edge and as more time passed, everyone was getting more worried and booing."

STORY: Bruce Springsteen's guitarist slams London concert curfew

Bieber had been due to start at 8:30pm London time. The opening acts performed until 8:50pm, and it wasn’t until 10:20pm that Bieber appeared on stage, the BBC reported. It didn't mention the opening acts, but the arena's web site lists "Call Me Maybe" star Carly Rae Jepsen and Australian singer Cody Simpson as Bieber's support talent during his London visit.

One unhappy parent said he paid $605 (£400) for three tickets and tweeted that he ended up missing the performance so he could make the last train home. He added: "Disgusting!! Waste of my time and money... never again."

Bieber's previous U.K. gig, in Nottingham on Saturday, also began late. The O2 Area, one of London's most popular music venues for big stars, apologized for the late start via its Twitter feed. "Justin Bieber is now on stage and apologizes for the lateness of his show," it said. Tuesday morning, it followed up, saying the venue would  be "exploring all available options to ensure this doesn't happen again."

Harry Styles' shoe tosser apologizes for hitting him at One Direction concert

By Alexis L. Loinaz, E! Online

The sole culprit behind Harry Styles' shoe shenanigan is making amends. A Twitter user by the name of Jade Anderson has taken responsibility for clocking him in the groin when she threw her shoe onstage at a One Direction show Tuesday in Glasgow, and she's now apologizing to the boy bander for the ballsy move.

The 14-year-old, who hails from Scotland's East Kilbride town, took to Twitter shortly after the incident, writing, "tonight i threw my shoe and it hit harry in the balls then security came and took me out the concert then i got my shoe back hahahaha."

Ouch! Harry Styles hit in the groin by fan-flung shoe at One Direction show

She apparently didn't stay booted out of the show for long: Apparently, security later allowed her to return to the concert.

"The only reason the security let me back in is cos harry told them too," she said.

Anderson then apologized directly to the 19-year-old singer. "@harry_styles im the one that threw my shoe at you, i never meant to hurt you :-(," she wrote, adding, "Feel sooo ill now."

She also tried to make light of the situation, noting, "and the police were telling me that i 'commited a criminal assult' and i couldve killed him hahaha."

Well, her aim was at least good enough to literally bowl him over: After getting hit, Styles immediately keeled over in pain and curled up on the stage floor while cupping his crotch.

But proving that you can't keep a good man down for long, Styles quickly rebounded, got up and jokingly started doing some lunges.

Kanye West disses Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, corporations onstage

    By Brandi Fowler, E! Online

Kanye West has never been one to bite his tongue, but diss Jay-Z ... that's a different story. Putting the duo's 2011-2012 "Watch the Throne" tour to the side, the loquacious rapper hit the stage during his show in London Saturday and sounded off about Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie."

Pregnant Kim Kardashian says Kanye West has taught me the value of privacy

"I got love for Hov, but I ain't f------- with that 'Suit &Tie,'" Kim Kardashian's baby daddy told the crowd as an instrumental "Clique" played in the background, which features him and Jay-Z.

And that was just the beginning of Kanye's rant about the music industry.

    Watch on YouTube

    (Note: Video contains swearing.)

"I hate business people," West rapped, according to Billboard. "People get on the phone with me and tell me, 'What kind of business can you do, though? What type of business are you doing? What's the numbers? How much did you sell? What's the radio spins? How much shampoo can you sell with your face on it and sh--. Remind me again why we in this sh---. Can you remind me again why we in this sh--? Since when (is) making music about getting rich? Since when was making art about getting rich? ... Remind me again why we in this sh--."

Oh, yes, there was even more during the 10-minute rapped speech.

Pregnant Kim Kardashian and Kanye West celebrate Valentine's Day with romantic dinner

"Can I sell a drink for you, please?" West continued. "So you can help me put on a better show. Please corporations. Can you please support me? I swear I'm a nice n---- now. I swear I'll put the pink polo back on. I swear to you. Please. Just for three million dollars. I need it so bad. I need a new pool in my backyard. I tell my fans your sh-- is cool. And if they believe in me they should also believe in you. What's my public rating now? Are they liking me again? They forgot about the whole Beyonce thing right? Okay, cool."

Last week, Jay-Z and Timberlake officially announced that they will embark on a tour together, performing in 12 cities this summer.

Something tells us West won't be making an appearance.

Lady Gaga visits sick fan after canceling tour due to hip injury

Lady Gaga with 5-year-old Kayleigh Gurbynski.

By Alexis L. Loinaz, E! Online

Lady Gaga had to reluctantly pull the plug on her Born This Way Ball tour after suffering a hip injury. But she still managed to stage a very personal appearance for one very special fan, who scored a plum front-row seat.

On Wednesday, the pop star met with a young girl suffering from a terminal heart condition who traveled from Wisconsin to Chicago to see Gaga's show, only to discover that the singer had to cancel the tour.

Per local reports, Gaga swung by to visit 5-year-old Kayleigh Gurbynski, who'd been diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart and Turner's Syndrome.

Lady Gaga cancels remainder of "Born This Way Ball" tour due to injured hip

The meeting, which happened in Chicago, had reportedly been orchestrated by local radio-show host Tony Waitekus, who reached out to Gaga's camp to see if the eager Little Monster could score some face time with Mother Monster.

And even if the show didn't go on, Gaga's get-together with Kayleigh did -- a poignant moment that Waitekus chronicled on his radio station's Facebook page.

"Even though Lady Gaga was not well enough to do the show tonight due to Doctors order (suffering from joint pain), Lady Gaga made it a point of still meeting Kayleigh!," he wrote. "Fantastic for Kayleigh and my hats off to Lady Gaga and her people for making this happen!"

Lady Gaga goes on tirade after former assistant sues her

On Tuesday, the 26-year-old songbird revealed that she was in too much pain to walk and decided to postpone four concert dates.

But a day later, Gaga's tour promoter, Live Nation, announced that it was scrapping all remaining tour dates after the star was diagnosed with a hip injury that will require surgery.

    Follow @ TODAY_ent

"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip," Live Nation said in a statement. "She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour so she can heal."

Injury or not, it's great to know that Gaga will still always make time for her Little Monsters, especially those most in need.
