Justin Timberlake debuts new video for 'Mirrors'

By Alexis L. Loinaz, E! Online

Justin Timberlake's "20/20" vision has left us seeing double. The popster has just unveiled the video to his new track "Mirrors," the second single off his buzzworthy new album "The 20/20 Experience," and it comes hot on the heels of its dapper debut ditty, "Suit & Tie."

The epic eight-minute clip, which was directed by "The Runaways" helmer Floria Sigismondi, follows the kinetic love story of an elderly couple as it flashes through a tableau of images showing the duo's relationship over the years.

Justin Timberlake confirms "The 20/20 Experience" volume 2 album in the works

Timberlake himself doesn't pop up until almost six minutes into the video, as he meanders through a hall of mirrors wearing wing-tipped shoes and busting out some intricate choreography while dancers in flesh-colored tights circle him.

Touchingly, the song pays tribute to Timberlake's grandparents, William and Sadie Bomar, who were reportedly together for 63 years. (His grandfather passed away last year.)

Waves of emotion seep through the tune as Timberlake croons about saying "goodbye," musing, "You're my reflection and all I see if you/My reflection in everything I do."

The new video arrives just a day after the 32-year-old revealed that he's working on a second volume of "The 20/20 Experience," although he has yet to spill the beans on when it's expected to hit stores.

Google: 'Gangnam Style' generated over $8 million in advertising deals

South Korean pop artist Psy poses for photographs in Sydney, Australia in October 2012.

    By Rosa Golijan

"I get tired or I get sick of it," Psy said of "Gangnam Style" during a news conference in Singapore in December. However the South Korean sensation feels about his infectious song and dance, there's certainly one thing that he can't complain about: Cold, hard cash.

We've previously heard third-party estimates suggesting that the "Gangnam Style" YouTube video may have generated over $8.1 million in advertising deals, but now Google itself is calling attention to this statistic.

"Outside estimates say that ... that video — which I am sure all of you have seen — of Psy, his hit song, 'Gangnam Style,' now the most watched YouTube video for all times," Google senior vice president and chief business officer Nikesh Arora explained during the company's quarterly earnings call on Tuesday. "It generated over $8 million in … all in advertising deals."

Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang, has seen some significant success beyond YouTube-related profits. In late December, "Gangnam Style" became the first YouTube video to get one billion views, beating Justin Bieber's "Baby," the second most popular video on YouTube, by a wide margin. YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca praised the video's popularity in a post on the official YouTube blog, pointing out that it has been viewed in "close to 75 countries, making it one of the most global music sensations ever." Additionally, as of late December, fan tributes to the video were being viewed 20 million times every single day.

Considering that the phrase "Gangnam Style" finished 2012 as YouTube's top rising search query, odds are that Psy's success will continue on the video sharing site for  a while longer — even if he declared that 2013 will include less of that song.

Might as well learn that dance right now if you haven't already.

Sorry, Bieber! 'Gangnam' is first video to get 1 billion YouTube views

    By Rosa Golijan

"Gangnam Style," that infectiously quirky rap video by South Korean sensation Psy, has shattered yet another record: It has become the first YouTube video to get one billion views.

Not only that, but Psy will retain bragging rights for some time to come. It'll be quite a while before another video has a shot at earning the same distinction, says Billboard's William Gruger, citing projections provided by Next Big Sound.

Justin Bieber's "Baby," the second most popular video on YouTube, isn't expected to earn one billion views until late 2014. This is quite noteworthy considering that it took "Gangnam Style" only about five months to hit Friday's milestone. (Amusingly enough, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, has at one point tweeted a link to Psy's video, exclaiming "HOW DID I NOT SIGN THIS GUY!?!??!")

    YouTube

Psy's "Gangnam Style" overtook Justin Bieber's "Baby" so quickly in view counts that we barely had time to learn all the dance moves.

Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang, has seen some significant success well beyond the one billion view milestone, as YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca explains in a post on the official YouTube blog. "Gangnam Style" has been viewed in "close to 75 countries, making it one of the most global music sensations ever." Fan tributes to the video are being viewed 20 million times every single day, Psy's own remix of the song has 200 million views, the song may have generated over $8.1 million in advertising deals, and it has been downloaded more than 2.9 million times.

Considering that the phrase "Gangnam Style" was seeing more than five million searches on YouTube in early October and finished the year as YouTube's top rising search, odds are that Psy's success will continue for a while longer.

I suppose that means it's time to finally learn those dance moves, huh?

Psy is the same person that sang "kill our troops, kill their daughters, brothers and sisters," while in Korea. Now, that he has made money from the people in the US, he has apologized, too little too late.
