The wedding took place at the home of the bride's father, co-founder of Paul Mitchell hair care and Patron Spirits, John Paul DeJoria, with the ceremony taking place around 5 p.m. under an altar overlooking the ocean. Alexis wore a strapless gown with lavender flowers embroidered. The nuptials were planned by Mindy Weiss and Revelry Event Designers.

Their "Mad Men" characters had an ill-fated affair, but off-camera, Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser are excitedly celebrating their engagement, Bledel's rep confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. "They couldn't be happier," says a pal of the "Gilmore Girls" alum, 31, and Kartheiser, 33.

Last June, Us broke news that the twosome -- Bledel played the mentally imbalanced mistress to his character, ad exec Pete Campbell -- had been "dating for a few months."

Says another friend: "Vincent proposed a few weeks ago. She's been wearing her ring. It's huge!" In the past, Kartheiser has been linked to actress Rachael Leigh Cook; Bledel dated her "Gilmore Girls" co-star (and on-screen love interest) Milo Ventimiglia for more than three years.

Jim Nabors, Gomer Pyle on 'Andy Griffith Show,' marries partner of 38 years

By Kimberly Nordyke, The Hollywood Reporter

Shazam! Jim Nabors, best known for playing Gomer Pyle in "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Gomer Pyle, USMC," is a newlywed at age 82.

The actor married his longtime partner, Stan Cadwallader, 64, earlier this month, he told Hawaii News Now on Tuesday. The Honolulu-based couple, who have been together for 38 years, traveled to Washington -- where gay marriage became legal in December -- and were married at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle.

    PHOTOS: TV's most celebrated legends

"We've been together for 38 years, and I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody," Nabors told the paper. "I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years, and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I'm just very happy."

Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

Nabors had never publicly acknowledged his homosexuality in the media but said he never really tried to keep it secret.

"I haven't ever made a public spectacle of it," he said. "Well, I've known since I was a child, so, come on. It's not that kind of a thing. I've never made a huge secret of it at all."

The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a firefighter; he later worked for Nabors, and then they started dating.

Nabors originated the role of Gomer Pyle -- known for such catchphrases as "shazam," "surprise, surprise, surprise" and "golly" -- in the early '60s on "The Andy Griffith Show." After two seasons, the popular character was spun off into "Gomer Pyle, USMC," which lasted five seasons. He reprised the role for the 1986 TV movie "Return to Mayberry" and for the early-90s series "Hi Honey, I'm Home."

Nabors also made frequent appearances on such shows as "The Carol Burnett Show," "The Sonny and Cher Show" and "The Love Boat" and hosted his own series, "The Jim Nabors Hour," from 1969-71.

Nabors, who also is a singer known for his baritone voice, has recorded more than 25 albums and has performed in numerous musical theater productions.

Hugh Hefner, 86, weds Crystal Harris, 26, at Playboy Mansion

David Livingston / Getty Images file

    Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris

    By Us Weekly

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris are on their way to happily ever after! The Playboy founder, 86, and his model girlfriend, 26, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on New Year's Eve at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, a mansion source tells Us Weekly.

Originally announcing her engagement to Hefner in December 2010, Harris called off her first wedding in June 2011 just days before the ceremony.

    PHOTOS: Broken celebrity engagements

One year later, Harris confirmed via Twitter that she had reconciled with her ex. The couple cemented their plans to walk down the aisle once more in early December when they obtained a marriage license in Beverly Hills and Harris proudly debuted her new engagement ring. (She auctioned off her first ring -- worth an estimated $90,000! -- at NYC auction house Christie's in October 2011.)

    PHOTOS: Stunning star weddings

Taking special care to keep her second ceremony private, Harris -- who recently opened her own lingerie store, Femme Fatale, in Studio City, Calif. -- says her renewed bond with Hefner is solid.

    PHOTOS: 2012's sexiest celebrity kisses

"When the wedding didn't work out the first time, it was because of me. I needed to explore out there and take the time away [from Hef and the Mansion]. The time away really helped make me realize that where I'm meant to be is here with Hef," Harris tells Us Weekly. "Our relationship is better than it ever has been before. I'm very happy and Hef's very happy and we're excited."

    PHOTOS: Hugh Hefner's former girlfriends

Former "Girls Next Door" star Harris is the Playboy mogul's third wife. He married Mildred Williams in 1949 and the couple had two children together -- Christie and David -- before calling it quits in 1959. Hefner married Kimberley Conrad, the mother of his sons Marston and Cooper, in 1989 and filed for divorce in 2009 after an 11 year separation. Previous girlfriends of Hefner's include Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson, Bridget Marquardt and Brande Roderick.

Will Kate Winslet change her name to Kate Rocknroll?

    Tyrone Siu / REUTERS file

    Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll

    By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, TODAY

So everyone knows a woman doesn't have to change her name when she gets married, but come on, Kate Winslet, don't you want to be "Kate Rocknroll"?

Winslet's wedding earlier this month was a surprise, but more surprising to many was the name of her groom: Ned Rocknroll.

The wedding was a hush-hush ceremony, so it's not clear if his musical last name was engraved in careful calligraphy on Crane invitations. And Winslet will likely continue to act under her current name, since she didn't change it when she wed Jim Threapleton or Sam Mendes.

    Follow @ TODAY_ent

As you might guess, "Rocknroll" isn't her new husband's real name. He was born Ned Abel Smith, but don't mind that fairly generic last name. There's a more famous name in his family tree -- he's the nephew of Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, and works for Virgin Galactic, which hopes to sell flights into space in the near future. (His title is reportedly "head of astronaut relations and marketing," which is almost as good as "Rocknroll.")

The name change came about in 2008. "The whole thing was about having fun with your name," his then-wife, Eliza Pearson, told the British newspaper The Daily Mail. "He thought we all took ourselves too seriously so it was about reacting against it. He looked into just being ‘Ned’, with no surname at all but, apparently, that’s illegal so we couldn’t do it."

Pearson (no word on whether she was ever known as "Eliza Rocknroll") told the paper she learned about the legal name change one day when her then-fiance emailed her a photo of his new passport.

"It was hysterical. We had discussed him doing this many times before, but I wasn’t sure whether he’d do it," she said.

A photo of their 2009 wedding shows the bride and groom posed between four friends who are bending over, rear ends to the camera, and who have the letters ROCKNROLL written on their white pants.

He's not the only celebrity to change his last name to something unusual. Football player Chad Johnson changed his last name to "Ochocinco" in 2008. "Ocho cinco" translates as "eight five," and 85 ("ochenta y cinco") is Johnson's Cincinnati Bengals' uniform number. He changed it back in 2012.

Some fans were expecting a weekend wedding, but Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake surprised them and tied the knot early, PEOPLE Magazine is reporting.

The actors wed in southern Italy, where they had gathered with friends earlier in the week, the magazine reports. The wedding date wasn't given, but it was likely Friday, as the magazine reported the couple hosted a party around bonfires on Thursday and a beach party with fireworks and live music on Wednesday.

The magazine published a statement from the couple saying, "It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends."

PEOPLE will print photos of the ceremony in its next issue, which hits newsstands Wednesday.

The couple began dating in 2007, broke up early in 2011, then reunited and became engaged in Wyoming that December. It is the first marriage for both, though Timberlake famously dated fellow Mickey Mouse Club member Britney Spears from 1999 to 2002.

    Anne Hathaway marries Adam Shulman

    INFphoto.com

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman at a private estate in Big Sur, calif.

    By Bruna Nessif, E! Online

Anne Hathaway's big day was Saturday. The "Dark Knight Rises" star wed fiance Adam Shulman in a private ceremony in the scenic redwood-studded coastal enclave of Big Sur, Calif., E! News has confirmed. As we previously reported, Hathaway was swathed in a gown specially designed by her friend Valentino Garavani.

The Look: Details on Hathaway's dress

The 29-year-old Oscar-nominated star found her Mr. Right, fellow actor Shulman, not long after discovering she had devoted years of her love life to Mr. Oh-So-Wrong. So in honor of their nuptials, let's take a look back at how the newlyweds' love affair began...

Five things you need to know about Anne Hathaway's hubby

January 2009: The public first caught wind of this new couple when Hathaway was spotted with Shulman at the opening gala of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where Hathaway picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award for "Rachel Getting Married." PDA was kept to a minimum, but there was a quick lip-lock (many more to follow in the coming years).

May 2010: Anne and Adam stayed off the radar for a bit, that is, until Shulman was spotted jacking some mural art from a Manhattan construction site. Don't worry, he returned it (after paparazzi got pictures of him taking it).

August 2011: Seriously, though, where was Adam Shulman hiding? Apparently, he was a little camera shy. "He's in there hanging out with my friends," Hathaway told us during the One Day premiere in New York City. Hey, more spotlight for his leading lady.

Anne Hathaway ties the knot with Adam in Big Sur

Nov. 28, 2011: And all of a sudden -- bam! -- this duo is engaged! Well, maybe not exactly "all of a sudden," since it had been three years, but we were happily surprised, nonetheless. Hathaway's rep confirmed the engagement to E! News, but the actress kept proposal details under wraps. Shucks!

Nov. 30, 2011: The ring! Anne showed off the unique creation made especially for her by Shulman and Kwiat jewelers. "We were honored to have the opportunity to work with Adam. He had a strong vision for what he wanted to present to Anne and we worked with him to make a custom design," a rep for the company told E! News.

December 2011: Speculation as to when the big ceremony would go down started swirling and leaned toward October 2012. Her rep denied such claims, but it clearly wasn't too far off.

Les Misrables' release date changed to Christmas

July 2012-September 2012: Remember how we said that these lovebirds kept their public displays of affection to a minimum in the beginning? Well, it seemed like all that changed once that diamond was on Anne's finger, because it became PDA all day, everyday, anywhere, any time. But it was super sweet.

Sept. 20, 2012: Most of the wedding plans have been kept hush-hush, except for one (pretty important) detail: the designer of Anne's wedding dress. And that just so happens to be Valentino Garavani. During the New York City Ballet's fall gala, the fashion icon told E! News he "did the dress" for Anne's nuptials. "She's a very good friend of mine," Valentino gushed. Like family? "Oh, yes. She's like my daughter!"

Sept. 29, 2012: The couple swap vows in Big Sur, Calif.

The 25-year-old Kings of Leon bassist married aspiring model Martha Patterson Saturday in Charlotte, Tenn., E! News has learned.

People reports that it was a casual-cool affair in front of family and friends, who stayed to celebrate in a rustic farmhouse after the ceremony.

The musician popped the question to his stunning bride at his Nashville home April 11 with a 4-carat cushion-cut diamond ring...and kept the engagement news under wraps for about a month.

"It's true! I'm engaged! CANNOT wait to finally lose my virginity," Jared tweeted in May.

Natalie Portman's short and sweet wedding dress

    Fameflynet

Natalie Portman married her longtime partner, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, on Aug. 4 near Big Sur, Calif. The Oscar winner wore a short, ladylike dress.

    By Jada Wong, Styleite

When Natalie Portman and her longtime partner, Benjamin Millepied, exchanged wedding vows near Big Sur, Calif., on Aug. 4, the most important question on our minds was: Who designed the dress? There was speculation that the Oscar winner would don a Christian Dior creation, but we scoffed at such a thought considering that Portman hasn’t worn the brand since she criticized the label's designer, John Galliano, for his anti-Semitic remarks last year. Instead, we figured Portman would wear one of her favorite brands, Rodarte, and as it turns out, we were right.

According to PEOPLE magazine, designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy created a white A-line frock that ended mid-calf and featured long, see-through sleeves. The bride finished the wedding day look with a veil, floral crown, and nude shoes. Around 100 guests, including Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and Macaulay Culkin, reportedly attended the ceremony.

The Israeli-born actress, 31, and dancer-choreographer Millepied, 35, are parents to a 13-month-old son, Aleph. The two met on the set of "Black Swan" (of which Millepied was a choreographer and for which Portman won the Best Actress Oscar), and they announced their engagement and pregnancy in December 2010.

As Portman is Jewish and Millepied is French, the ceremony included elements of both cultures. The two exchanged vows under a canopied chuppah, wrapped in Jewish prayer shawls. As for the reception?  Macaroons took the place of a traditional wedding cake, a klezmer band played, the couple danced the hora, and everything was vegan per Portman's diet. The ceremony ended around 2 a.m., and guests left with packets of wildflower seeds inscribed with the word “Merci”.

Most ladies wouldn’t be able to pull off a tea-length dress without looking a little frumpy, but we think Portman nailed the look. What do you think? Let us know!

Yes, wonderful, a dress without a ridiculous train. The plain sleeves are different than usual, but give the dress that off beat touch without being too distracting. Flats or low heels are great. Another move against uncomfortable fashion wearing on a day that has plenty of physical stress.

Awful celebrity weddings, in 5 simple steps

    Dan Steinberg / AP file

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves kept their wedding low-key.

    By Courtney Hazlett, TODAY

When Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves married on Saturday, almost immediately I found myself thinking, "I love this wedding!" This is an odd thing for me to say, not only because I'm not one of those "wedding people," but because I'm not even a fan of McConaughey's. As an actor, he's never done a thing for me, I don't find him to be particularly attractive or even interesting.

But I could not get enough of the couple's Texas-size, yet subtle, declaration of love. He pitched tents for his guests! The nuptials were kept secret! The couple looked handsome/beautiful! Each detail was better than the last; I can't wait to see the photos, and pretend for a moment that I might have been a guest.

As much fun as it is to gawk at the nuptials of the famous and fame-hungry, the fact is so, so many of them are awful. Which is why McConaughey's -- which was relatively low-key, seemed personal and un-fussy -- is such a standout. If you're a celebrity and want the public to actually like your wedding, take some notes about what he and Alves did right. There are a few things to avoid. Here they are in five simple steps.

    Don't be a teenager
There is a clear message for Miley Cyrus here -- wait until you're out of your teens to wed. From Drew Barrymore to Courtney Stodden, there are plenty of examples of how teen love does not a marriage make. No one is hating on young love here, but COME ON, KIDS. It's difficult enough to navigate a Hollywood marriage when you're a bona fide adult. Let's be realistic, what's the rush?

    Don't rent a castle
If you're trying to prove that your wedding budget exponentially exceeds that of a non-famous person's, then go ahead, rent that castle in Italy! Yes, we're talking about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who wed Nov. 18, 2006 at Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy. TomKat's love was already a divisive issue going in to the wedding, and the ultra-extravagant wedding locale did not help endear them to the public. If you insist on a castle, then there are some options for bringing it down closer to Earth. Try a castle-turned-hotel, like Ashford Castle Hotel in Ireland, where Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shay married. Or, there's Baltimore's finest castle at The Cloisters, where Will Smith and Jada Pinkett married nearly 15 years ago.

    Follow @ msnbc_ent

    Don't do it twice
Where weddings are concerned, once is generally enough, especially to the same person. The vow-renewal craze among celebrities has gotten a little out of hand, with serial offenders Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon performing the ritual every year (just this April, the couple said "I do" yet again in Paris). Heidi Klum and Seal also had a penchant for over-the-top vow renewals, and well, that didn't work out so well. Less than a year after donning Mardi Gras-styled costumes for their annual renewal in 2011, the couple filed for divorce.

    Don't wear swimwear
A white bikini will cost you far less than a traditional dress, but that doesn't make it appropriate wedding attire. Even if you're marrying on the beach, we want to see you wearing a little more than two swatches of fabric. And leave the "jaunty sailor's cap" at home. Pam Anderson, this post was for you.

    Don't immediately file for divorce
That celebrity wedding elephants in the room -- Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries -- certainly loom large here. Their divorce announcement after just 72 days didn't come as much of a shock, but it still soured an already cynical public on celebrity betrothals. To be fair, Sinead O'Connor deserves a slap on the wrist, too. Marrying, splitting 18 days later, reconciling after "a beautiful evening of lovemaking," only to split again (for real)? To say this union was doomed would be an understatement.

The bottom line seems to be this: When celebrities exhibit some modicum of down-to-earthness it can be fun to share in their happy day. Reese Witherspoon got this right in her recent wedding to Jim Toth, as did Drew Barrymore. Lovely, but low-key, is the winning combination. For a culture that loves to observe the lifestyles of the famous, our breaking point appears to be when marriage becomes something of a mockery.

What do you like or loathe about celebrity weddings? Take it on over to our Facebook page and discuss.

Drew Barrymore marries Will Kopelman in California ceremony

    Reuters

Actress Drew Barrymore shows off her engagement ring as she sits with her fiance Will Kopelman on Jan. 5, 2012.

    By Us Weekly

It's official! Drew Barrymore is a married woman.

A rep for the actress confirms to Us Weekly that Barrymore, 37, and Will Kopelman, 34 said "I do" on Saturday evening at the actress' Montecito, Calif. estate. The couple, currently expecting their first child together, had their family and closest friends in attendance, including Cameron Diaz, pregnant Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth, Busy Phillips, Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy Juvonen.

    PHOTOS: Drew's love life

For the Jewish ceremony -- complete with a custom-made chuppah and performed by Kopelman's rabbi -- the "Big Miracle" star wore a Chanel gown. (Art consultant Kopelman's father, Arie Kopelman, is the former CEO of Chanel.) Barrymore attended her final dress fitting in Beverly Hills on Thursday with the help of Diaz, 39, her best friend and costar in 2000's "Charlie's Angels." "Drew has been leaning on Cameron a lot," an insider told Us. "Cameron has been very involved."

As designed by Gazebo Flowers, floral arrangements included "hydrangeas, small irises, cream and pink roses and lavender lilies," according to another source.

    PHOTOS: Drew's wild style

"Drew has found a family that she wants to be a part of, for so long she had the fun friends and career success but always wanted to be part of a close family, like Will's," says an insider.

The "Wedding Singer" star told Ellen DeGeneres she's in love with Kopelman's entire family. "He has this incredible family," Barrymore gushed on Feb. 1. Should Kim Kardashian give back her engagement ring?

Bling it on! Kim Kardashian flaunted her engagement ring from Kris Humphries in their first public appearance as an engaged couple on May 27, 2011.

Maybe she'll donate it to the state of Minnesota as a peace offering, as she always seemed to pooh-pooh the idea of ever moving there with Kris.
